can u believe this? no chase policy northshore coppers
so a couple months ago i was allegedly speeding on lake street and got pulled over so i STOP and he comes over and THANKS me for stopping and so i say sure my pleasure officer and he says "you guys" never stop and just because i stopped for him he lets me off.

so then i call my buddy who is a recently retired cop in another northern suburb and he tells me that in his police department there is a NO CHASE/PURSUIT OFFICIAL POLICY for speeding sportbikes....hmmmmm good to know

Most departments have no chase policies and not just for bikes. Many friends who are on CPD and when they start on a pursuit, within seconds if the speed reaches something like 40mph they are radioed to stop. Too much liability with this as most people trying to get away (and cops too) don't know how to drive and crash quickly.

good. Chasing is stupid, unless its on the southside, chase away.

I've heard the same from couple of cop buddies in other cities/state, but the liabilites isn't regarding the rider, but with the cop, wherein the police car hitting a pedestrian or crashing, will result in massive lawsuits and/or disable cops collecting paychecks for rest of their lives.

I may be wrong on this - but a couple-3 years ago I recall hearing on the news that either Cook County or ISP invoked a no chase for bikes.
