A good discipline goes a long way!

If we acted up it was the metal clanging on the belt buckle that put us in line! And we dare not move during the spanking cause if his "Pall Mall filterless" smokes came out of his shirt sleeve there were sure to be a few more licks added.

If we really FU*KED UP then we had to go out to the maple tree and break off a flexible limb and remove the leaves and all the real young bark. Mind you this took about 30 minutes to do and the whole time you know you are cleaning it for your own demise! The we would give it to him, he would inspect it, and then whip us with it!

Were we abused? Not by a long shot! Do i respect him for it? Absolutely. No ill will cause a few times we NEEDED it!

The best thing my parents ever did for me was whip my ass when I messed up. Hell, even the principal at my gradeschool spanked me a couple of times (I deserved it). I miss those days... back when being disciplined meant something.

Teachers repremanding children like that in public schools around here wouldn't fly, they'd be sued within hours. I can't speak for what goes on in private schools.

We got paddled in my gradeschool, mid eighties, central IL.
When looking back at it, I can't say that I didn't have it coming. The problem is that some folks cross the line and it becomes abuse.

I'm talking grade school here. Hell, I was hoping that the punishment would stop at school and that my parents wouldn't be informed of my mis-behavior. That's when the real shit jumped off!

Born in '75, went to gradeschool in IN, they had to stop spanking kids in school somewhere around '83-'85. Coincidentally, the schools all had drastic increases in violence and unruly behavior and haven't been the same since. (They also took prayer and the pledge of allegiance out of schools around the same time).

They did not take either out. They said that children did not have to say the Pledge. Also, any student can pray during schools hours as long as it does not interfere with anyone else's privacy or learning process. See guys, I didn't get all acted up or anything!
