Click on big box mart. The frightening thing is that it is funny but oh so true. The very people who live in the country will be the cause of the fall of it.

I refuse to show at Wal Mart. Now I know it's probably no better that I will shop at Target.

Also, I refuse to use those automatic tellers at stores, in my opinion these things are taking away jobs from people. Now I have friends that tell me that nobody would want to be a teller at the (insert store name here) anyway, but I beg to differ, if they can't hire qualified people for the job, that just means that they are not willing to pay enough.

Stores like Home Depot, these stores are hardly desperate to make a buck, yet every time I go there they have only ONE register open and then they hvae an automatic checkout.

They have the same stuff at both stores. I can buy a Sony radio, CD's, Movies, Tide laundry Detergent, Rubermaid tubs, Tums, Excedrin, Folgers Coffee, and other stuff at both stores. I think it's funny how people think Wal Mart is worse than Target.
I don't like going to Wal Mart because it's never cleaned up, but they have camping stuff there (Coleman brand just like at Target) So how is shopping at Wal Mart worse than Target or even K-Mart?

Ever use an ATM to get money fromn your bank? I don't use the automatic tellers at stores because they are a pain, but I use an ATM.

most complaints rise from their rabid refusal to use unions, or from the pressure they put on vendors/companies to sell to them at a lower rate.

The only reason I shop at Walmart is because they have certain items cheaper (pharmacy, some food items) AND I'm totally broke from a recent house purchase and upcoming wedding.

I hate shopping there because it's like a dump in there - crap everywhere, the aisles are narrow and there are whining, crying kids all over the place.. it's become the new K-mart. In fact I don't think K-mart was ever this bad.

Target is always straightened and for the most part organized...but you pay for that at the check-out.

The place that is really nice are those Meijer stores.

The self checkouts are kind of convenient sometimes... but if I'M doing the work of ringing up my own items and bagging them - I should get a discount! I don't work there so why should I do the friggin work???

If the stores are saving money by paying less checkers, the savings should be passed to the consumers IMHO.

I use them, but my parents are steadfast against them (I probably should be). My stepmother's been a checkout person for the same company for well over 20 years, Dad worked grocery stores for years as a butcher. One or two items it's faster. I've tried to check out a cartfull, I don't recommend it.

Does Wal-mart have them now? Company that makes them is making a mint for sure. I try to avoid Wal-mart when I can, there's a K-mart down the street but generally if I go shopping for 5 items, one of them won't be at Kmart, and the nearest Target is 10 miles away. I went to Kmart once for razors for the Mach3...they had the shavers but no spare razors..WTF? It wasn't just with that particular type, they didn't have ANY spare razors, regardless of brand.

They are passing on the savings to the consumer. You'd be surprised how much work goes into cutting costs. If Jewel/Osco, Dominicks, Walgreens is selling an item that costs $4.99 for example, and Wal-mart and Target are selling it for 50 cents less, that's a cost savings of thousands of dollars that they've streamlined out of the supply chain process

I shop at Walmart unless the place is a dump like the 1 in Joliet on Larkin Ave. then I would rather pay a few pennies more and hit the Target.

I also use the self serve lines at times.

Happy Shopping Everyone!

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

They were probably behind glass near the checkout or service counter or something. Many stores do that now because they're a commonly shoplifted item. They're expensive and small enough to pocket a bunch of them to sell at the flea market.

As for the self checkout lanes taking away jobs... What about the people who sell/make/install/service the machines?

I avoid Wal-Mart as much as I can, not for any political reasons but just because I'm usually ready to kill someone by the time I get out of there. Between the slow walking/smelly/ignorant customers, pallets full of crap blocking the aisles, and inevitably getting stuck behind someone wearing designer jeans and gold jewelry paying with foodstamps and taking the merchandise back to their Cadillac, it's an aggravating experience. I'll stick with Target.

+10000 on both of those.

I use the self checkout at the gorcery store because (1) it's quicker and (2) i have yet to meet a bagger in texas that grasps the concept of not putting multiple glass items into the same bag.
But what really fries me is when there's only one checkout line open, and the sel-checkouts are CLOSED! WTF?!!! I had to wait on a 30 minute line one friday night b/c it was the only lane open. Insane!

Although I hear that our area was one of the first to even get the auto checkers in any stores-- we have had them here ever since I moved here 6 years ago.

Thanks Mopar, I thought I was the only dirtbag out there?

Who else is with me on this? I always scan the checkout lanes before I check-out and I always go to the hottest chick's checkout lane. I don't care if there is no-one waiting in the ugly-fat chicks lane. I would rather wait.

+1!!! I go about once every few months to get camping stuff. Target is nicer and cleaner.

Hmm, didn't think of that. Then again, I couldn't find anybody to ask for help.
Yeah, a pack of 8 Mach 3 blades are about $15 I think. I only use them for when I need a real close shave. Damn, that's , sorry.
