Another new guy.

Just wanted to say hi. I actually found the site a couple months ago. Wanted to finally join so I could check out some of the bike nights, group rides, and whatnot. My name's Paul. I'm in the middle of the whole Skokie, Niles, Morton Grove area. I picked up a 675 sometime near the end of the season last year. Anyways, hope to meet some of you guys out there.

Thanks guys. BTW, do you guys know any decent shops near my area? I'm having some starting issues with the bike. I'm going to take it apart on Thursday to see what I can find, but just in case I don't, I'd like someone that knows what they are doing. I sent Chicago Performance a message already. Just waiting to get a reply. Anyone else?

MCC in St. Charles is good w/triumphs.
Also check the triumph675.com forums, there's a ton of info on them. The D675 has known electrical problems; mine's been a jackass also. Took off the stator cover and checked it for shorts on Friday and ended up buying a new (better) R/R from the interwebz Saturday morning.

Best o'luck with the starting issues.

P.S. you got the ugly color!

Welcome!
Yeah, pretty much everyone i know (except Dejan for now) with the 675, had issues with regulator rectifier whatever thingy.

Good luck!

PS I hate MCC, but some people have really good experience with them.

Yep. Checked the triumph forums already. I don't have newer R/R so I guess it could be that. The starting issue actually happened after a wash. So I'm guessing that there's water where there isn't supposed to be. But, it's already been sitting for 3 days so.. I don't know. Thanks for the advice.

Oh and yeah.. I didn't like it at first, but the color has grown on me. I'm still planning on a paint job for the winter though. I'm loving how the pearl white looks on the newer SE's

Mine's not a SE, but it's a pearl white. And now it has shiny black/white reflective rim stripes!

I was just teasing about the ugly color; I was on the back of one for... as long as it takes to get to New Orleans from here. Never been on the back of a sportbike for that long, and don't really recommend it. Ouch!

Thanks. Can't really blame her though. I like white myself. Just looks real clean and simple. Well guys, wish me luck. I'm about to take the bike apart to see what's up with it. Hopefully all goes well.

It's actually in Villa Park on St. Charles. And they are the best Triumph/Ducati shop by far in the Chicagoland area.

And yes, I'm quite biased, but I stand steadfastly by the above comment..

oops! You're totally right, I must've been spacing out when I typed.

I've only ever taken my 675 to MCC, so I can't actually compare dealerships. I *do* know that I like the guys working there, and they've always been helpful to me even when obviously not intending to buy.

Thanks to all that recommending MCC. Towed the bike there and got it back two days later running perfectly. Pretty quick and easy. Just need a tune now and all good to go.
