I just moved to Dallas from near Evanston a few days ago

Hope you find the winter weather more hospitable than I did.

Don't sweat it...The big blizzard of last February was the first one like it since 1999. We have a great variety of weather here and it sometimes requires you bundle up. Summers can be pretty hot & humid too. During our midwest thunderstorms you won't be missing hurricanes much and when the wind gets going you better hang on to your hat and it gets going quite often no matter what season it is!
In spite of it all we've been able to establish and build the 4th largest population center in the western hemisphere. The center hub of all transportation in the world, the center of the food industry for the country and all of it anchored by a world class cosmopolitan city that would be the rival of any other city in the world through all of history. The area and the state has it's shortcomings but we are still pretty proud of Chicagoland. So...WELCOME...I leave you with one piece of advice...If you don't like the weather around here stick around............................................ ...............it will change!

"Dirt is for racing on...Asphalt is for getting there" OR "Flat trackers go in deeper and come out harder... OR (With apologies to General MaCarthur) "Old motorcycle racers never die, they just slip off the groove and fade into the dust!

If you want to anger a conservative, tell him a lie. To anger a liberal all one must do is tell the truth!

Welcome! OldTimeBiker pretty much summed up how I see it.

Two weeks of extreme cold weather in January, Two weeks of extreme hot weather in August, and the rest is pretty decent.

It's a little flat here, just like around Dallas. You'll fit right in.

Sorry to say...no twisties around Evanston except a precious few on Sheridan road with a 25 mph speed limit...They don't call this the flatlands for nothing.
Lotta truth in this old joke..."The Dragon...318 curves in 11 miles...Illinois...11 curves in 318 miles." But, You'll learn about the places that fuel your passion...Starved Rock, Galena, Western Illinois and the great River Road, Southwest Wisconsin, The Slimey Crud runs etc.

Hey Axe, now you know why I left Chicago for Dallas

Tons of bikers in Chicago, including many good folks here.
Whatever kind of crowd you're looking for, you'll find it there.

Bike night's on Wednesdays, about 30 miles away from Evanston in Downers Grove.

Good luck with the move.

Even if there were you would never get over 30mph. To find any good roads you must head N/W to Wisconsin And that could take well over an hour depending on traffic.

it's not the fall that kills you, it's that sudden stop
