New to the forum...

Greetings,

New to the forum, but not new to riding. I have been licensed since '02 and my first bike was a '92 FZR 600 that had a salvage title. It was a quick bike that taught me a few lessons that I won't forget. The economy went south and I wasn't able to ride as much as I wanted to, but now things are a lot better, and now I own an '07 ZX-10R.

I love riding and have been logging miles since the 1st of April. Cold and the rain (was out yesterday) don't bother me as much as the wind does, but I will ride when I'm in the mood or have time.

If you see a Lime Green ZX-10 that's me! If it's at night, I'll have the LED light on the back of my helmet flashing (it actually keeps most cagers off of me).

Thanks (born & raised here), and I actually have two. I have a GM54S (modular) and a green GM68S (full face) that's on the way from motorcyclecloseouts.com. They're nice helmets for the money and the LED lights on them give me a piece of mind in heavy traffic and especially at night. Most people give me a decent amount of room when I have it flashing, but there have been one or two idiots that wouldn't have cared if a newborn baby was on my back. Some may think they're corny, but I could care less. One of my neighbor's was run over from behind (broke his back), and a old friend of mine and his wife were both killed when a drunk driver hit them from behind; leaving two girls & a whole lot of family & friends behind that miss them dearly.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Sometimes I get a little defensive about my gear, so bear w/ me. I have friends that ride who say that I'm too safe because I wear kevlar jeans w/ CE armor in the knees (Sliders), jacket/gloves, and my Gmax all the time. Some make fun of my helmet up until I tell them about my neighbor & friend, and then they ask me where I bought it. Others keep joking around, but those are the ones that either wreck or run their bikes into the ground (poor maintenance). Have a safe riding season.

I don't ride without all my gear either. I work with a Harley guy that makes fun of my "ninja suit" on a regular basis. But my bike is on the street, while his collects dust in the garage.

Welcome!

It ain't a cross country ride.

Both of the bikes you have listed in your profile would do fine.

Cool, look out for me shaking my head at all the people who drive like they're in a coma down Larkin & Weber.

Welcome!
Ah, one of those - the Harley owner who talks about his bike more than he rides it. You should ask him if he stares (in a creepy way) into the cars of single women until they look at him on his Harley. I told my wife about a guy who did that & now she looks out for them so she can have a good laugh.

Sup Spook155! I know there's nothing wrong w/ them. I put up w/ a little too much trash talk about my first one, so now I'm a little defensive. A few guys are coming around though; one has been saying that he's going to order one.

Yeah, I looked into it a little more after I wrote that jrock. I'll have to catch the next one due to work & I'd like to get some more gear (waterproof).

One of my first rides of the season was to Starved Rock (loved it). Thanks for the invite & welcome! I'm off Sun. & Mon., so if the weather cooperates & I'm free, I'm there.
