Talking My Trifecta at US Cellular...

Holy s**t man, days like this should be bottled up and sold...

Ok so everyone knows that I'm a Cubs fan, but actually I'm a "Chicago" fan. I guess when it comes to Sox vs. Cubs, I vote northside, but I wish them both well. ANYWAY, so I'm at the Rangers/Sox game Wed. instead of going to Strats and me and 3 of my friends got some kick ass seats. Section 146 Row CC seats 1-4. That's 3 rows into the stands, about 90 feet or so from 3rd base down the line. So I do what I normally do and I'm out by left field trying to catch a ball during BP. After a bit I decide that it's not my day and I'm off to get some pizza and beer. Apparently this was appetizing to my friends Jon and Heather who I was sitting with b/c they got up to go get the same when I returned to my seat. Here's where it gets interesting... when they want to get up, I stand to let them by and I turn slightly to my left. Then I hear "look out, look out, look out!!!" from all around and then WHACK!!!!!! Fuggin LINE DRIVE off my right hip. Now I've never fallen off my bike, nor have I ever been shot, but OH MY GOD that hurt worse than I could ever imagine either of those two occurences. So then security comes over and asks me if I'm OK and I'm like, "I think so, I dunno I got hit in the hip". Then the guys asks if I need to see a doctor or have someone look at it and I told him "I don't think anyone wants to look at my ass" (even though it was my hip, right where your femur attatches to your pelvis. Yup, skin and bone right there). I dropped my last slice of pizza as a result and DIDN'T EVEN GET THE DAMN BALL!! Som'bitch bounced like 30 feet off me into the next section. After a second group of security personell talked to me, I was headed back to my seat (like 10 feet MAX from the guardrail) I see this Ranger guy come running towards me and signaling to me. He asked if I was OK and all that stuff and he apologized, then he asked me if I had a pen or sharpie with me. Since I'm a big kid, I always have one with me when I go to the ballpark. Well I gave him the pen and what does he do?? HE SIGNS HIS FUCKING BAT AND GIVES IT TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!! How cool is that??? Herb Perry of the Texas Rangers did what I think is the coolest thing that I've ever seen at a game, much less have happen to me. So I start off the game with a baseball bat from a pro! Cooliosis right? The saga continues...

Then, right before the game, Kelly Wench (sp?) comes out and starts signing autographs and stuff right where I was sitting. So I say what the hell, I'll try and see if I can get a sig. Sure enough, I got him to sign my glove right before the game started. So I'm feeling pretty good at this point. I got a bat, a signature, free tickets and hella good seats. Well a few innings and a few beers later, I'd been sitting on this bag of ice for like 4-5 innings and I'm literally freezing my ass off. So I say screw the bag, I'll just tough it out and sit and stand every now and then to loosen up my hip. Well when the Soxs got out of the Ranger part of like the 5th inning, one of our guys tossed the 3rd base ump the ball and he starts wandering our way. I said to my friend Dave (who literally is a huge Sox fan) "if I get a ball, I'll give it to you". I mean, I already got 2 sigs and a bat, what are the odds right? Well wouldn't you believe, the ump faces ME and I'm just waving like hell for him to give a toss over my way and he does. With my 5'11" frame, bruised hip and all, I do my best Steve Bartman and totally rob this guy in the row to the right and in front of me at the railing for this ball. I immediately roll over on the tarp and toss it to Dave. Wow... I still can't believe how cool that day was. Not to mention that the Sox won 4-0 and Esteban Loaiza had one helluva game. And to think, it all started out with me getting my side DRILLED by some dude. To Herb Perry, I thank you

Cool story. I can only imagine how much pain you were in from that liner. Especially off the hip.

Life is too short to ride anything but an R1

In memory of FastBlueR1...RIP
