cubs vs st. luis important or not yet??

so when the cards sweep the cubs and they are 9 games back, are they done? left to fight for the wild card spot, one wild card spot where they use to have a commanding lead now down to a 1/2 game??? Im thinking the cubs HAVE TO WIN the next to from st luis or your going to see a demoralized team spiral downward. THIS SERIES IS BIG!!

on a side note though it is nice to see the sox winning again! 1.5 back of the twins, they are playing good ball right now (the twins that is) so sox have there work cut out for them, mags is back frank is gone for 15 maybe more? should be fun!!!!

go sox!

go cubs!

I agree that this series is very big for the Cubs. They need to take 2 of 3 from the league leaders heading into the all star break. The AS break seems to be a turning point for the Cubs each year and we need 2 of 3 from the Cards to keep the momentum.

On a different note, I too am glad to see the Sox winning as nothing would please me more than a crosstown classic, however it seemed VERY quiet here on the board from the Sox camp after we SWEPT the southsiders in the last series. GO CUBS!!!

I think today's game is really big. Not season big, but pretty freaking big. When the cubs were on their winning streak where they swept IAH in the four game series, they won the first game of the next series against the cardnals. The next game the cubbies were winning late in the game and the redbirds came back to win the game. That game seemed to send the cubs downward and the cardnals upward. This game has that same feeling.

Let's be real here. The Cubs falling to 9 games out of first place would not be a good thing.

The flip side is that there is something magical about the All-Star break. Teams that have dominated in the first half the season, fall apart and teams that stunk, get their act together. So, you never know.

Actually....Sox are 1/2 game up If I'm not mistaken. Time for my Cardinals to bury the Scrubbies and put them 9 back.

Life is too short to ride anything but an R1

Well, at least we didn't get swept. I'll take the 1 out of the 3. Better than the sweep.

And Jim... They say that you can gain one game a week on average. So... even at 9 games back if they got swept, it would only take 9 weeks to make a comeback. And there are more than 9 weeks left till September. So, I think we're ok. No reason to puch the panic button yet.

Still confident on "The better team" and the post season? Wait...who was going to go for the wildcard spot?? The SOX?
