Maddux

Even the non-Cubs fans have to praise this guy, at age 40 he is 5-0 on an average team..

His stuff has been so nasty that teams are accusing him of goobing up the ball.

If only the Cub had everything going right at the same time....

Cerk's top 5 of all time, in no particular order:

1. Sandy Koufax
2. Greg Maddux
3. Roger Clemens
4. Warren Spahn
5. Bob Gibson

Maddux is a first ballot Hall of Famer (obviously) and probably the smartest pitcher to ever take the mound.

umm, no Nolan Ryan??? Probably the most dominant pitcher of the modern era with over 5,000 K's. And Cy Young did win like 511 games or so, pretty good. So good they give the best pitcher an award in his name every year. JMO

Nolan Ryan is probably my favorite pitcher of all time...a .206 career batting average against, 1000 more strike outs than Clemens in second...but wins and championships have to count for something...granted Ryan was on TERRIBLE teams...he would be my number 6 all time...so on the top 6, Ryan makes it...like i said, he's my personal favorite.

...and Ryan had 324 wins...Cy Young had 511, that's alright, i was thinking it was Christy Mathewson

I am a huge Cubs fan and it is funny that there best pitcher right know, is the oldest guy on the team. Hopefully he can keep it going all year long.

Nolan was a great pitcher, but lets not forget he also lost 300 plus games.

I saw a clip the other day of the home plate umpire checking the ball when Maddux was pitching. He was laughing openly at the umpire. He knew right then that he had the other team by the short and curlies..They had NO IDEA what he was going to throw next

His fastball is what..83 mph? He a pitcher..not a thrower like too many young guns (Kerry Wood)
