Pond Hockey

Anyone up for some pond hockey this weekend? The weather has been ideal for the last 3 or 4 days for some ponds around the southside to freeze. Another 4 or 5 days (hopefully with no snow) and we're going to have some kick ass outdoor hockey rinks all over the place.

A cooler of beer and some pond hockey sounds like a good time this weekend. Anyone up for a bloody nose?

Sweet, we should have a pretty big group this weekend if the current weather conditions hold strong.

We'll be playing around the Frankfort Mokena area outside my friends house. He has a pond on a golf course rite behind his house.

We played for about 3 hours today. Pretty sweet spot behind my friends parents house.

We made a red neck goalie. Hit a beer can you score a goal.

Anyone who plays is more than welcome to come and skate tomorrow just shoot me a PM and I'll give you directions. The pond is in the Frankfort Mokena area.

I'm just curious, how deep is the ice? I know that today got close to 40 and the next few days will be 40+ degrees, is the ice safe?

I chopped a hole in few spots and its about 5 inches thick. A little less in others but we skated hard all day and never had a problem.

I haven't played in years, I would love to get on the ice again. Maybe if my schedule lightens up I'll be able to make it one day.

Bump. Nick, I've got the itch to play some hockey and just remembered this thread from 3 years ago. Any local ice will probably be shitty for a while with all this snow but let's keep this in mind. I'm fat and out of shape and haven't played ice hockey since I was 12 so it should be entertaining.

There's a rink on 111th right east of Pulaski in Mt. Greenwood. Boards, nets and everything and there are lights.
