not firing, just not rehiring. his contract is up I guess. The Bears feel that most of the defense is due to Smith. Also I guess there is an assistant coach that can be slotted into the Def. Coordinator position if needed, this is not the case with the Off. Coordinator position.

who cares, hes the one that got conservative, last part of the season and the SB didnt see as much blitz. We just sat back and let offenses have 10,12,13 play drives and take time off the clopck and score.

Living where I do now, I know he's been in talks to take the place of Shotty as head coach for the Chargers. Just 1 of the people the Chargers are looking at.

Good, with no past history as head coach I was a bit worried and curious as to why they'd even consider him. But stranger things have happened.

Lovie had no history a head coach and look at him now. id rather have a coach with no head coaching experience. Becuase if you get one that has been one then obviously he didnt do his job well enough at where he was at.

The defense is the reason the Bears lost the superbowl. That is why I think he was not renewed.

Honestly, the defense doesn't turn the ball over, what, 5 times was it? Granted, the Colts did practically march right through the Bears' D but you can't turn the ball over like that and expect to win, especially in the Super Bowl.

How was the offense supposed to get in any kind of rythum if they only run 28 plays to the colts 81? I say more defense, if you look at the first seven games compared to the last 12 there is a HUGE difference between the play calls and blitz etc. first seven games they were probably the best defense the last 12 probably near the bottom, the offense had to bail them out a lot.

and........ someone tell me how many adjustments Ron dickvera made the second half of the superbowl? huh??....I know NONE absolutely no adjustment to how the colts were playing on offense. so i guess you could say the bears were outcoached.

I heard from the guy who broke the story in an interview that a lot of it had to do with their LB coach who they wanted to promote to def coordinator. They were worried that he would get picked up as the def coordinator elsewhere he didn't get the chance in Chicago. Not a bad move IMO.

My name is JB, people call me JB

Are you talking about Lloyd Lee?

sounds like Riv is going to get a gig with San Diego but it's not the head coach job.

we didn't blitz much in the first 7 games either. Ron Rivera's problem wasn't that he got soft. It was that he didn't adapt his strategy to the injuries that the team suffered. We lost Mike Brown and Tommy Harris. The defensive front four with tommy harris was able to get to the QB without the aid of a blitz package, when we lost that the defense needed to create blitz package, which it didn't do.
