Cuban to buy the Cubs?

I'd welcome the change over the morons at the tribune.

Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil,

You know he will dump a ton of money to win but his act could get old. I can just imagine watching every game with Cuban yelling at the Umps from behind home plate.

Yup, his act would get annoying really fast. I hope someone that isn't as meddling would buy the team. And buy them quickly so they can sign their own free agents (ZAMBRANO) and be players for other available players.

The guy that founded Ameritrade is also interested in the Cubs and according to Comcast Sportsnet, the bids are believed to be over one billion dollars.

I'm hoping Colangelo, former owner of the Diamondbacks, would buy the Cubs.

As much as people knock him for his brash personality and his need to be seen and heard, I think he would be a good fit. The only reason you see so much of him anyway is becasue he bothers to sit down by the front with his team unlike most owners who choose to relax in the VIP. His fan first businessman second mentality is what brought the Mavs up from the dredges. He's fiercely loyal and willing to spend big bucks to win. He'll even go as far as accruing fines for sticking up for his players. Thats good for teams; an owner that gives a sh#t about whats actually going on on the field and not how much they're profiting. But when all is said and done, I doubt that he will even get the chance to bid.

Cuban

A douche? Yes

Loyal? Yes

A majority of owners approving him? NO

Thought it was TD Waterhouse that was looking at them.

I'm a huge Cuban fan. I think that all owners need to be a fan first to make a good product. If they're fans first then they want to win and pay to win. Will the exception of the Cubs and Sox winning = tickets, so the old adage is true, gotta spend money to make money. As big of a Sox fan as I am I would pull for the Cubs with Cuban running things. And I really don't see him being much of a problem because unlike basketball where he's right on the court, and can come on to it, he'd be stuck somewhere in baseball. So you'd only have to deal with his post game ripping of the umps.

Cuban FTW!!
