Am I the only fan?

Am I the only fan of Rex? I really hope that this slap in the face wakes him up and beats out Griese to get his job back as the starter. I fear that Griese won't be any better b/c the offense as a whole has played like crap not just Rex. This is a contract year for Rex too and if he doesn't show his metal he won't be resigned. That would mean starting over again and I can't take another Shane Matthews or Jim Miller type quaterback. I think Rex has great potential but unfortunately that doesn't win games, but I really hope he gets pissed and does something about losing his job he is a better player than griese.

potential schmopential! he's had one seems like an endless number of opportunities to get on his game and has yet to show much for it. i'm not a bears fan, but i have nothing against them.

i think smith has invested too much time in grossman. he's shown a LOT of love for the guy, only to rely on the running game instead. without a power back behind the guy taking the snaps, it's put more pressure on grossman to perform, who hasn't shown bears fans much in the way of strong skills.

i don't have anything against the guy, but i think he's better suited with a team that has a more established running game and receivers that are able to take care of the 3rd and shorts for him.

I think the Bears have wasted way too much time and energy on a QB who doesn't have it mentally. He is inconsistent at best. He can't take a snap, throws a short game and can't think on his feet. He lacks confidence.

Griese is good, but he has consitency issues as well. We had the opportunity to develop Orton and when he was a rookie....he took us to the playoffs even though he was straight out of college and thrown into the fire (which he WASN'T ready for). He did really well for a rookie starter...and then rex comes off his injury, Kyle gets fired (3rd string now? Welcome to the practice squad!) and we throw Sexy Rexy back in.

Every year Grossman fans try to convince us (and themselves) that he has what it takes. He doesn't. It's a contract year as you said, and I sure hope we don't resign him. Buhh Byyee Rex. We won't miss you!

I liked him but I think he has become to gunshy. It was completely his falt Berian dropped the pass when he was wide open. I also feel the Bears are too stubborn to make adjustments during the game. If Madden is saying you spot rush him then move him to a different spot I saw rollouts that worked great in preseason but very few were used. Maybe they catch lightning in a bottle with Griesse.

I would find it hilarious if they traded Rex away and then Rex beat them each and every time he played them from then on and went on to have an incredible career in the process.

some QB's that are awesome in college just can't adapt to the complexity of the pro game. seems that Rex is one of them. and the dude is build like a punter for christ's sakes. name a bunch of HOF or even pro bowl QBs that have short stubby arms and legs. maybe he'll do really well for the Chicago Rush in a couple of years.....

Oh my, we are in 100% agreement.

Rex has skills and has shown us that but the biggest issue is the mistakes he makes are just stupid. Really stupid. He responded to Steve Spurrier in college because that coach kicked his ass hardcore every time he messed up. Maybe Lovie's style don't inspire Rex. Rex does not seem too concerned when he messes up and some of the mistakes he makes shows poor judgement.

rex is just inconsistent, hes good but hes also equally bad. hes a fucking rollercoaster when hes down its terrible and chicago brings out the pitchforks and torches but when hes good, hes damn good. gets those great bombs to the endzone or moves the ball. he just has a shitty short game and most of the time ends up over his head because every snap he takes it 10 yards back, gets rushed and fucked.

I used to follow the blackhawks but now just occasionally watch (away games )they are a few years away from getting into the playoffs and making noise.
And Bill Wirtz died this morning or last night. Sorry to hear he passed but maybe the franchise will change some of their policies. #1, televise home games....wtf?!

Regarding Rex, well, he's not the answer. Too many bad games is hurting the team and if the offense isn't clicking, it starts with the QB. He doesn't have the pocket presence of other quarterbacks and he doesn't have the ability to make something out of nothing when a play breaks down. Griese is not the answer either, but maybe he's enough for this team. Remember, Trent Dilfer was a bust after being a high first round pick, he bounced around, and then won a Super Bowl with the Ravens by playing conservative, mistake-free football.

Why haven't we heard of Orton getting in there, is he not that good after all?

+1 to all of this. The guy is capable of greatness. It just has not worked out for him in Chicago. I believe he will be an awesome quarterback somewhere else, for some reason it just does not work for him here. If he is kicked by the end of this season he will have motivation and well destroy us and other teams next year. Rex problems are mental, not physical. He has the best physical weapons of any QB we have ever had. Lovie is just trying to wait for the bond to mature, but I don't think the city will let that happen and can't wait any longer for results.

very true, both berrian and moose have loafed it the last two games both times resulting in interceptions. The line is not blocking for either rex or benson.

Yes, but the QB is the heart of the team and can make or break you more than any other player. We have a good to great team. They have proved that. All Grossman has proved is that he is a serious weak link and is letting down the rest of the team game after game.
