Bears win! ...

...a trip back to Chicago to get there @$$ kicked by the Packers...

I cant belieeeeeve the Ref's called "intentional grounding" on Orton... and i REALLY can't believe he threw that "bomb" interception at the very end of the 4th quarter... So much for the Wildcard spot... Guess theres always next season right...

You couldn't believe that our 3rd string quarterback (on a team that our 1st string would be 3rd string on other teams) couldn't mount an amazing 4th quarter 2 minute drill comeback?

When that drive started, all I could think was "This is not going to end well"

and did you really think that if they won last night the rest of the NFC was going to loose the rest of their games in order for the Bears to make the play offs, I know the whole mathematical thing and what not, but lets be realistic, the wild card will be the Giants and the Vikings.

Lots of crappy calls, LOTS of bad plays being called...and lots of poor play on offense and defense (except Urlacher had some NICE turnovers!).

Sorry, but Orton should have been our starter way back in the beginning of the season when Rex once again showed us what a suck ass QB he is! He has never mentally had it together...EVER! Griese is done...has been for years. The Bears made a BAD decision in 2005 when they yanked Orton as their starter after the ROOKIE with the help of a kick ass defense got us to the playoffs that year. The rip him as starter, throw in Sexy Rexy who screwed things up...per usual...and Rex was still everyones hero. We had a rookie QB thrown into a starting position he wasn't ready for...and he did great, only to be rewarded by going to the practice squad. He should have been developed. Maybe it's not too late...who knows. Contract year for Rex...uhhh buhh bye Rex! We want Orton!

Really? You don't want Mcnabb or another top free agent? I don't want any of the Bears' current QB's to return.

McKasky's will not pay for a good quarterback. it will never happen till they sell the team.

not to mention Rex will be a "steal" of a contract, hurt again, not so great of play, he isn't going to be worth that much so the Bears can sign him for cheap and continue to spend all the money on the defense that no matter how good it is still can't get the job done without an offense that can score points regularly and consistently. #1 problem with last years team, you have to be able to move the football on offense, you can't rely on the defense for everything!!

Yeah, we really need to do this. Every damn year, we never have a decent offense. We don't have to be the Colts, just have something consistent and effective. The second half we could not get a first down, and it looks like they ran the same running play over and over again . Rex did a lot better with a no huddle offense before he got hurt. I think much of the blame has to lie of the offensive coordinator.

as a Fan, without all the answers, here is my opinion...

Rex isn't a bad quarterback. Griese is a has been. Orton is another decent backup, can come in and won't loose the game. Yesterday contributed to the idea that he isn't a starter in this league. At least not yet anyway. Rex played this year with ZERO time in the pocket. Lets face the facts, NO quarter back in the NFL is effective if they have no time in the pocket and a lack luster running game. THe bears problem this year is age and injuries. We have talent in alot of places. However, with some poor personel decisions (Archeletta over Harris) (tank johnson being released) and tremendous injuries (tommy harris, Mike Brown, Mike Anderson, Dusty Dvorak, Cedric Benson, etc) and lack luster play calling. We simply are not a good team this year.

Its not rex grossmans fault, well not entirely his fault.

I thought Orton did well considering he hasn't played since 05. There is no excuse the Bears could not capitalize on all those forced turnovers, pretty sad. Here's to next year, yay!!

the bears will resign grossman (he will come cheap)
we will probably be looking at our three QB's as grossman / orton / longshot rookie draft pick.

hopefully the bears will invest in an offensive line and a safety for next year. Maybe a running back.

Personally, I think they should tank the rest of the year to get better draft choices.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

Damn, you're right. We can't really complain in football about that. It is so tough for teams to repeat. There is almost a new champion every year.

remember that talent and unselfishness in key positions (tom brady) along with fantastic coaching.

the bears gave up on Rivera last year and that hurt us ALOT this year.

also, to those that swear we need an all star quarterback to win a superbowl (or to take us back) then remember this.

in 1985 we didn't have the best, we had a fantastic defense, and a great running back.

Football is won and lost at the line of schrimage. a running game and a stout defense will win football games.

+1 I really put a lot of blame on Turner. We saw some of the best football when Rex was calling the plays himself .

that was greise.

turner's problem is that he doesn't adapt the play calling to his quarterback. yesterday evening, Orton shouldn't have thrown that deep ball. Thats not his game. Thats rex's game. Also, putting in our SMALLEST running back on 2 and 11 on the 2. WTF are you thinking. Garrett wolfe might be a hella talented player, but he doesn't block well, and he can't push a pile like a bigger running back.

This is true as well, but I feel we need a decent offense. If the defense gives you the ball on the other team's 30, you should be able to score, or come close. We have been so bad at times, I would rather they let Gould kick a field goal on 1st down from fear of turnovers . We also should have kept the two backs here. It was clear Benson could do nothing by himself. This year, the defense did not play nearly as well as last year. Yesterday, our traditional defensive team showed up, but we saw what a bad offense does. On almost any other team, that many forced turnovers equals a win, but not with a horrible offense like we have.
