Way to go Alfonso

Shit like this pisses me off. Just catch the F-ing ball and leave the skipping/hopping to the 8 year old school girls....

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3348691

--------------------------------------

Cubs fans generally don't need more bad news, but they might get some.

Soriano

Alfonso Soriano left the Cubs game against the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday in the top of the first inning at Wrigley Field with a strained right calf.

After the Cubs beat the Reds 9-5, Chicago manager Lou Piniella told reporters that Soriano was undergoing an MRI and the team would know the results on Wednesday.

Moving to his left for a shallow fly ball to left field off the bat of Ken Griffey Jr., Soriano made what has become his trademark skip to make the catch and landed awkwardly. He immediately began to limp, favoring his right leg, and was helped off the field.

"He'll probably be a while," Piniella said. "It will be a while."

He added that Soriano seemed to be in pain.

"If he's out an extended amount of time, obviously it hurts us," Piniella said.

Reporters pressed the manager on Soriano's little hop and how he thought it figured in the injury.

"It seems like a natural move for him," Piniella said with a laugh.

Mike Fontenot pinch hit in the leadoff spot in the batting order in the bottom of the first inning. He took over at second base and Mark DeRosa moved to left field. He homered in the victory.

I hate that also.

I also don't like when D. Lee pulls his foot off the bag just as he's catching the ball. Only a matter of time before he pulls his foot off before the ball gets there.

I thought he would drop a ball before he injured himself. That comes with him being a second baseman playing outfield but you gotta love how he guns out runners with his arm.

Lee is a little gun shy at times over at 1st. He's a great defender but he does short arm it on close plays when the throw is towards the path of the runner. The Furcal effect....from when Furcal ran into his wrist and put him on the DL.

Overall, good defense last night, they are a better defense team than they've shown to this point in the season. Pie, Lee, and Fontenot made very nice plays last night.

Soriano is on fire at the plate! 2hrs today, I was sure he'd turn it around but it still kills me that he strikes out too much in the leadoff spot.

Yeah he's killing the ball lately. Still does that stupid hop though. I guess I can get over it if we get 2HRs per game

Can't help peaking in here, huh?

Actually just discussing a player that was struggling and now is on a roll.

If we talk about going to the park and boozing, sox fans talk crap. If we talk about pitching, hitting or defense, they talk crap.

Don't stress it sox fans, its ok...... we still love you.

BTW, worst division in baseball with only one team above .500? AL Central.

Two words for you Lou...Defensive Substitution There is no reason Soriano should be in the game when you're up by one in the bottom of the ninth on the road. This is the second game it cost them because he was in there

While his defense is bad.....he's getting paid $136 million to be out there. He should not have to be substituted for. He needs more practice.....but I don't see him being out there shaggin fly balls during BP to get a better feel for balls. We're stuck with his defense. That game in Pittsburgh, he allowed 2 runs with bad defense but he did hit a 2 run homer.

I'm not suggesting you take him out of the game in the first inning I'm saying it's smart to put your best defense out there when you have the lead with only one more half inning to get through. He is clearly not included in the best defense.

Any more drama in late innings and I'm sure Lou will have no choice. My thoughts are, you pay a guy $136 million, he should be a good all around player.

Doesn't matter how much he makes unless he can pile all that money up to make a big hill to stand on and rob HRs. Bottom line is he is not a good defensive player and shouldn't be in there when you need to close out a game.

Well at least we don't have to worry about his hops or bad defense. Soriano got hit by a pitch tonight and broke his hand/wrist. Out six weeks

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs today placed outfielder Alfonso Soriano on the 15-day disabled list with a minimally displaced fracture of his left fourth metacarpal in his left hand and optioned right-handed pitcher Kevin Hart to Triple-A Iowa. The Cubs recalled infielders Micah Hoffpauir and Eric Patterson from Triple-A.

but then there's another article that says...

"We're optimistic that six weeks will be the max," Hendry said. "He's already predicted that it won't be that long, and he is a fast healer."
