NFL Draft and the Bears

The NFL draft is this Saturday afternoon on ESPN. The Bears have the 14th pick and plenty of holes to fill.
So what would you like to see them do with that pick?

I really think they need a left tackle and I'm guessing they get Chris Williams of Vandy or Jeff Otah of Pitt. I would love for them to pick up Rashard Mendehall (RB) out of Illinois, but the bigger need is for an O-lineman and Mendenhall won't be around when the Bears pick in the second round. Still, there is going to be a nice RB available for that second pick which I'm sure they'll use on one.

I'm guessing they go in this direction on the first day, unless they make a trade:

1) OT (Round 1, 14th Overall)
2) RB (Round 2, 44th Overall)
3) OL (Round 3, 70th Overall)
4) WR (Round 3, 90th Overall)

Da Bears!

We can tough it out with Grossman for anotehr season. I agree with Abe's post. Would love to see mendenhall come home to chicago though... he went to Niles west.

Bears won't pick up a RB regardless I think. Benson is too expensive and a little bitch. Benson didn't want to be #2 which is why Jones got traded. Concentrate on O-Line. We desperately need a good safety. Archaleta sucks monkey ass. Since we lost Berrian, a WR might not hurt either but we are really hurting at O-Line right now.

I bet they trade down because Angelo loves his later picks.

O-line and Safety, must drafts. They'll take a QB, a RB and a WR along the way but I'd wager the first two picks will go O line and S.

Benson's injury is said to be worse than originally reported. Word is, he is not going to come back and play at the same level he was at before he got hurt. It seemed like he was already a step slower then he was in college/rookie season. He is Curtis Enis v2.0. Bears need a RB bad and some teams have had success with RBs drafted on day two. If Matt Forte (Tulane), Kevin Smith (Central Florida , very good back IMHO) or Chris Johnson (East Carolina) are available at the second pick they'll take one, otherwise I can see the Bears waiting till the 4th or 5th round to get one.
Archuleta will probably remain as a backup and special teams guy. He's Lovie's guy....along with Rex, those two can do no bad in Lovie's eyes.

Completely agree, and what makes me think Angelo is going to trade down. Maybe trade down twice the first day especially if O-lineman start slipping down in the draft.

I say we trade up and take Chad Henne. Trade for some decent O-line (somehow.. someway) and add SA. SA and benson can split carries. Snag Chad Johnson and Anquan Boldin and we have ourselves a team

SA = Shaun Alexander? Not sure how much he has in the tank and he's been hurt a bit the last few years, so I'm not sure if that would be good. He was released so at least the Bears wouldn't have to give up a pick or player. I do like Chad Henne though, that would be a good pick in the 3rd or 4th round.

Yes SA as a complimentary back to Benson. If we could get him at a good price... why not? He's 4 time pro bowler ... 30 isn't that bad.

Fuck Grossman, we can "Tough" it out with Orton but no Grossman.

O line is in dire need and some safety help would be nice.

we def need some help on the line so i say jeff otah with 14th overall. then its a toss up. we do need a safety but i think the RB position is in worse shape right now.

i would agree with that except for the fact that he benched both of them last season because they were sucking it up all over the place.

i think orton should start this season no matter what. he was the only one last year that didn't really suck so he should get to play until something happens to show we can't win with him. the team has done well everytime he has been the starter consitently. thats a fact.

They need to address the O-Line. Rex will be fine if he is protected I have faith in Rex. He could be a stud if the D-line ain't down his throat every time he drops back.. Benson is a bust and SA would just be a band aid. Chad Johnson would be nice, but there is no way the bears would get him. They should fucking figure something soon GOD DAMN IT! I sick of wasted hope

If my calculations are correct, this will create ice... OH NO, KILLER MUSTARD GAS!
