Blackhawk Red Wings Wrigley Jan 1

I hope hopefully.

Report: Blackhawks-Wings Jan. 1 at Wrigley Field

Tribune report
11:07 PM CDT, July 6, 2008

It looks like hockey at Wrigley Field is a go.

The Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings will participate in the NHL's third outdoor game on New Year's Day, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported.

An announcement is expected next week before the inaugural Blackhawks Convention at the Chicago Hilton.

According to the report, the game was finally approved last week when NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman met with the Hawks, Cubs and Mayor Richard Daley.

Ticket information?

I go to ticketmaster and it will only show me the preseason games. Anybody know how to order for this Winter Classic or does it go on sale at a later date?

I really want to attend this and tailgate.

Look closely...The right field bleachers are there, just not in use. The photo is, of course, pre lights but not pre bleachers. The bleachers, as we know them today, were pre NFL I think. It was around '66 or '68 when the Bears moved to Soldier Field...when they played in Wrigley, they erected temporary bleachers in front of the permanant right field bleachers. The football field ran along the 3rd baseline with one endzone at the visitors dugout and the other at the left field wall. It held alot more fans and put you much closer to the field. Sat there many times as a kid.
Rumor has it that those temporary bleachers are still stashed under the baseball bleachers (I wonder how sturdy they'd be after 40+ years?)...It would make for more seating capacity for this Hawks / Wings game...I wonder if Hockey season ticket holders or Baseball season ticket holders have a better line on tickets for this?...Either way, I'm willing to pay alot more for this than I did for the first night game!!!
