relax its only preseason, its not for the fans, its for the coaches. remember they are playing mostly for situations to work people out and see who is going to make the final 53 man roster

Caleb looked good... granted he was playing with 2nd stringers vs 2nd stringers, but he showed better promise!

Yep, Orton/Grossman at QB, rookie RB, patchwork line, 4 #3 WR's..........this could be a rough, rough season. The defense simply has to stay healthy. Just a few key injuries and this team has no shot of winning.

I liked Grossman and Hannie. Orton bored the hell out of me- not to mention he couldnt find a teammate to warm up with. Hannie does have some potential, and that could be part of the reasoning that they did not sign Orton or Grossman for longer, or bring in a veteran QB.

Booker reminded me of why we traded him to begin with. Bradley, Hester, and Lloyd looked ok. I went to school at NIU- so I already knew Wolfe was fast. Now I would like to see him get some more playing time and do that in a real game. What happened to Kevin Jones? I saw all 4 of our other rb, but not him...

Kevin Jones is still on rehab for knee surgery. I'm not sure if he'll be ready for the first regular season game.

Went to the game last night and I have to admit the first and second quarter were tough to watch there was no defense. They finally had their pep talk during half time but it wasn't until midway through third quarter they stated to pick it up. Disappointment in the fourth but hey it's the first game of the season.

Probably not a good sign to that they were icing Tillman knee?

I was happy just being at the game with my rwakstar seats, gorgeous weather One of many games for me to attend this year!!!

Looked at this years roster and there does not appear that we have very many home games this year

The NFL is broken down into a 16 game season, with each team getting 8 home games and 8 away games. Starting in mid-October, the Bears have a relatively odd schedule. They have 3 home games, followed by 3 away games, followed by another 3 home games. Collectively though, they do have 8 home and 8 away games.

The only time this varies is in the post season, where home field advantage is based on seeding...which is determined by your overall record.

I'd rather be bored watching someone manage a game and win then some fail spectacularly.

Please explain to me why you/people like Orton so much. I dont mean it as anything personal, but I just dont see why he has so much support from Bears fans. I understand the frustration with Rex, but what has Orton ever done to prove that he should be a starting QB in this league? Every game he has played in, he has not done anything to help win the game. He has relied on the defense and played it overly safe. The guy is boring to watch because he doesnt make plays. He lacks the swagger to lead a team, and he does not have the respect in the locker room. A team cant make it to the Superbowl w/ a qb that just manages things. There is too much talent in the league. I know it is an unpopular decision, but I think Rex is the better qb and deserves to be the starter.

Granted it's only a pre-season game, I think the game went OK overall. Orton, Grossman, and Hanie all played pretty good. They didn't make any huge plays, but they managed the game and were able to come up with some decent drives. I'd like to see more of Hanie playing with first-stringers. He was doing well in the 4th quarter, but once the clock hit 2min, it looked like he was forcing some plays. And despite the injuries on the O-Line, I think they provided pretty good coverage. I think we may also see some good running backs this season. The defense got off to a slow start. Quite a few times I saw some linemen overpersuing and thus letting the Chiefs get some big run yardage. They did clean that up mid-game and were able to contain some of the runs and even put some pressure on their QB. Overall, not spectacular, but not terrible either.

you know i almost agree with you. except for a couple points. i guess orton hasn't done much, other than winning 13 games in 2006 while he was the starting qb as a rookie. managing the offense is what a qb is supposed to do. yes we need a guy that can go deep and thats why orton prob won't last if he is annointed the starter. grossman has a an awesome arm and isn't afraid to take shots down the field. the problem is that he makes stupid ass errors and throws a lot of interceptions at the worst times.

i really liked what i saw from all the running backs and especially liked how hanie played. he definately has some potential. i couldn't believe how monk and bennett both dropped perfect passes from him in the 4th quarter. its those types of plays that are going to kill us all season if our receivers can't hang on to the ball. all of the receivers dropped passes last night. that was our number one problem last season, dropped passes.

i can't believe this shit with chris williams. there is no way that he got hurt that bad during the first practice in training camp. fuggin unbelievable, we used our first round pick on this guy and now he's not even playing....grrrr i hate jerry angelo, go jump off a bridge.

Hannie did look good, and he has a laser arm. I was very impressed w/ how tight of a spiral he had. Not to mention that the guy can actually scramble. Not to take anything away from him, but I would like to see how he does w/ a 1st team defense in a real game situation. Until the 2 minute warning, he was very poised...a rare thing for the 1st game of his rookie season.

when grossman first got here i was really looking for good things from him and it just seems like he is overly concerned about how people view him.

the reason i say this is he shines and makes some really good throws SOMETIMES but as soon as something goes wrong he is done with which leads me to believe there is a confidence issue. lets face it when your a large profile person confidence can be shatterd by public opinion.

I did see that- and it was definately awesome.
As a little FYI- Polite is a full back, not a running back.
The Bears have Forte, Peterson, Wolfe, Pope, and Jones battling it out for spots in the RB position.

dammit that's right...duh

Forte looked pretty good too...cept I think they used him too much so it was obvious for the def to keep gunning for him

1) Forte had a good showing and showed his ability to make plays and deliver hits
2) Peterson looked like he was running angery, and he definately got some good runs in
3) Wolfe just showed how fast and elusive he is. He can definately hit the holes fast. They need him to be more involved as a change of pace back
4) Pope is a decent runner. I dont see him making the roster, given the depth that we already have. He could be used as a decent option for a trade though.

I'm so sick of the Grossman fans. Guys, he's PROVEN himself...proven himself to be unreliable and unpredictible. Time and time again he's shown us what he is... there's something to be said for loyalty, and then there's a time to let it go.

Orton's rookie year he takes us to the playoffs even though our offense sucked and Grossman couldn't stay healthy. He was thrown into the fire and did a great job. Grossman can't even take a snap (fumble fumble fumble). Sorry, never was a fan.

It's going to be a long season for sure...
