Soto named Rookie of the Year!

Geo Soto was named rookie of the year by The Sporting News. He is also the favorite to win MLB Rookie of the Year.
The future behind the plate looks good for the Cubs. Now they need a left handed bat and players who can hit and pitch in the playoffs.

I came here to drink some beer and kick some ass. And it looks like we are all out of beer.

He's going to be a great catcher if he can stay healthy.

Sweet! Early in the year the experts said it would be between Soto and Fukudome.

This justifies my Soto shirt purchase last month.

I'm not a Cubs fan but he's the only Cubs position player I wouldn't use as trade bait. The rest are all on the block in my Cubs world.

here is what they need to do...trade d lee (put micha hoffpower at 1st...good left hand bat) and get gradey sizemore (however you spell that) and put him in right. trade fukudome and harden for a good prospect and $$$ to pay for CC...also trade for brian roberts and move soriano to the #4 spot behiend romie...this would be the perfect opening day lineup... Brian roberts, theriot, aramus, soriano, soto, sizemore, hoffpower, edmonds or johnson, pitcher (CC hopefully)............ I know some of this is wishful thinking but hendry does makes some very good trades sometimes and this stuff isnt all that unrealistic. Also sorry for the bad spelling on names

^^^ Why would the Indians trade their best player and one of the best all-round players in the game? Furthermore, whom on the Cubs would they even want in return? Probably Soto and a few other players. Sizemore is a CF btw.

There's like 3 pitchers worth keeping and Soto, the rest of the roster- trade bait. But most of them have horrible contracts; who would want many of them?

Harden is as brittle as a wine glass, Zambrano is a time bomb (and his no-hitter was against an Astros team with their mind clearly not in the game), Dempster could be a contract-year wonder and will ask for an assload of $$$. Lee's on the decline, AmRam is ok, but not untouchable, Soriano... great for leadoff HRs, keeps getting injured, and has a horrible contract every other position player is nothing special.

I would like to see Fukadome go, but then he will inevitably join the ranks of the ex-Cub now-Cub-killers.

i was at the zambrono no hitter by the way.... d lee also was not in it mentally this year. his daughter was suffering from some illness that i believe ended up in blindness. anyways i think harden, fukudome, and soriano are the best trade baits... soriano and fukudome have big contracts that are holdingus back from getting CC... trade all 3 for sizemore? idk... but i could even see hofpower being trade bait but can also see him being a good power left bat in the future

I can also see fukudome being great once he leave the cubs...seems like that happens to alot of ex-cubs

they just picked up Harden's contract, nobody will take him during the off season, next season if he has 4 or 5 wins by mid may and is healthy then he will be eligable, but right now, he will pitch for the cubs. Fukudome is a good player and just slumped the second half of the year. I think he will stay for at least another year.

Dude, Soriano's contract makes him completely and utterly untradable. The Cubs would have to eat so much of it to get another team to even bite.

Sabathia is a free agent, unless the Brewers sign and trade then there's no need to trade anyone for him. He's off to the highest bidder.

Fukudome would be a good fit if he was being paid Reed Johnson money but he's not. He needs to step up.

no i am saying trade soriano away and sign CC. by trading soriano it would free up "some" money needed for CC... I know he is a free agent. thats is why i said trade soriano for a good prospect (low salary) and another average player (maybe a reliever)
