Sox get Peavy

Welcome to our organization!

Quote:
CHICAGO -- The White Sox acquired right-handed pitcher Jake Peavy from the Padres on Friday in exchange for left-handers Aaron Poreda and Clayton Richard and right-handers Dexter Carter and Adam Russell.

Two months after the two teams agreed to what is believed to be a similar trade, only to have Peavy use his no-trade clause to scuttle the deal, Peavy agreed to this particular trade.

Peavy was 6-6 with a 3.97 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 13 starts this season with the Padres. Peavy, the 2007 National League Cy Young Award winner, has been on the disabled list since June 13 with a strained tendon in his right ankle. At the time he went on the disabled list, Peavy ranked among the NL leaders in starts (tied for first), strikeouts (third) and opponents batting average (eighth, .228).

He is expected to be able to return as early as late August.

Richard, the only player who was on the White Sox Major League roster, was 4-3 with a 4.65 ERA in 26 games (14 starts) this season and had been scheduled to start Friday night's game against the Yankees at U.S. Cellular Field.

I believe this is Kenny's way of trading for next year. When your 5th starter is DJ Carrasco for 3-4 starts, time to throw in the towel. Don't be surprised if Carlos Quentin is shut down soon and the outfield is Pods, Kotsay and Dye for the rest of the year.

Enjoy Thome for these last two months. 2010, the primary DH will probably be Konerko. Time to also audition if Sox prefer Getz or Nix.

Could be true but the division is so horrible you never know. Though Detroit loaded up.
