That is nice. What had you go w/the Super Nova and not a 870 or 500/590? Just curious as I am looking to get a HD pump in the very near future.

Benelli model 20155 (is it sad I know the model number?) is special order at most shops. Typically they get the pistol grip model, but I really wanted the Comfortech stock in case Brianne wanted to use it, and for those 3.5" shells! I've spoken to many Benelli semi-auto users that swear by the stock...which is good, because aftermarket for Benelli is few and far between. I only added the mag extension and shell carrier. About $525 out the door (tax and all since I got it locally), plus accessories.

I borrowed Bek's 590 for the Zombie shoot, and we all know the 870 is the pump that all other modern pumps want to be when they grow up. IMHO, all name brand modern pumps should be pretty solid, so Brianne and I manhandled about a dozen different shotguns (mostly 590/870 varients) under $500, and due to feel and off the shelf features, it boiled down to the 590A1 and this Benelli. We didn't care for *any* pistol grips (imho, not something I want unless it's a breecher or something), and the 590 truly felt the better machine...but features on the Benelli and the fact that I know it will smooth out after a few thousand rounds made it win out.

Edit To Add: I foresee a 590A1 with Ghost Rings in our future as well.

I'm looking forward to that! I've never done it before, and it looks fun as hell!

Here is a video that helped push me over to the Benelli at the end of the decision making. Granted, I could get this smooth with lots of practice on any shotgun, but the features plus knowing it could function like this was the tipping point:

That's good to know, Ken. I've not yet fired it...probably going out on the 26th or 27th to break it in at the new club. I have a couple hundred target shells and a few buck and slugs to try out. Physically, the shotgun feels just like any other. The theory behind the Comfortech makes sense, so I hope it works as advertised.

I was thinking the same thing... Gonna be hard to hit birds, clay or feathered, with that short little barrel .

Nice gun though. I'd like to get something similar for home defense as all my current shotguns are autoloaders and the shortest barrel in the bunch is 26".

You cant go wrong with the Benelli, but I have a biased opinion. Although the aftermarket isnt there for the Benelli like it is for the 870, 500 or 590 the fit and finish on them is a bit better. The little aftermarket that there is for them comands a bit of a premium as well but it's expected.

In my opinion the Comfort tech system is just an evolution of the recoilpad. In addition, for non Comfort tech stocked Benelli's you still have the option to install teh mercury recoil reducers. Not sure f the cxomfort tech stocks have this provision in them.

Either way in run and gun games you will never need to use 3.5" shells and rarely 3" as most poppers go down with 2.75" #4 OR #6. But it is one of those rather have and not need type options. My advice would be invest in about 6-8 Azoom dummy rounds and practice practice practice your slide manipulation, side saddle grab and loading. You'll get faster as time goes on. Also, if you have the privacy in teh yard or the space in the basement, do some running drills as well as if you were moving from stage to stage.

Atthe end of the day the pump wont be as quick as teh semi, but your in teh game and that's all that counts!

here's my old run gun. I don't think Benelli even brings these in anymore. Benelli Practical all factory 9+1, Ghost rings, ported, oversized bolt handle & safety, pic rail and speed feed.

And you don't know what recoils is till you've put slugs through this with teh stock down or knocked off some hinges via pistol grip. This one's been worked HARD and shows teh reliability of teh 870. She aint a prom queen, but she'll take you behind a shed and get it done!

I'm already there ahead of ya! I do appreciate the advice though!

I've been practicing 5-15 minutes at least once a day. Load, unload, load, unload. Load, click, rack, click, rack, click, rack, etc.

I wish I had some sort of shell catcher so I wouldn't have to chase these fuckers around the basement when I'm practicing. Beyond that, I can already feel myself moving more smoothly and surely.
