Elgin Transfer for $20. Picking up a transfer from him tomorrow. $70 per transfer is prohibitive pricing-they don't want to do them.

Every dealer can charge their own prices. Gander charges this much because they factor in the amount of time used by employees to send and recieve FFL data, log in the firearm and then process the paperwork when you pick it up and make the phone call.

remember in Illinois this is a 2 part process, you come in teh 1st time to fill out the 4473, then you have to wait your 24 or 72 hours and then come back to pick it up. And this is what happens AFTER you have Gander take the time out to, like I said above, send and recieve... blah blah blah.

Time is money and this is what fee they came up with based on this, not to keep from doing them. Gander is a bussiness out to make money. They also have overhead and payroll. Don't hate the fee because in the bussiness sense it's fair. Stroll over to mega and see how much they charge if they even do it.

Small FFL's have low overhead and as a service this is pretty easy for them as they enjoy doing it.

Look up FFL dealers on Gunbroker. I'm sure there is one in Joliet who will do it for under $40. Otherwise there is one in Peoptone that will do it for a $20

Arrogance has to be earned.

NO TAX

If the gun being shipped to the FFL dealer is Paid In Full, and being shipped from a state other than illinois, when it arrives he should not be charging taxes on it as this was an out of state purchase.

Shipping charges should have been handled on the sellers part and agreed to by the both of you. The ONLY thing you should be on teh hook for at the transfering dealers is the transfer fee. Again, he can charge whatever he wants but a fair price is anything less that $40.

If they try and charge you for anythning else they are full of shit. PERIOD!

Arrogance has to be earned.

^^ John and Anna are good people. Highly recommend them if you're in the Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Plainfield area and want an inexpensive transfer. They are literally within walking distance of my house (so I'm slightly biased), but have had great transactions on the last six transfers Brianne and I have done.

To those that are in northern burbs. I have an FFL and not afraid to use it

I am in Vernon Hills. You can reach me at 847-542-9461

Make sure to mention CLSB when you call me

Price is $20.00 unless I have to deal with a private party in another state. These transactions can be very time and energy consuming when private party decides to ship them self.

What's so time consuming? They should be shipping with a copy of their DL with the gun. You log it into your bound book with that info, no different than if a hard copy of an FFl was sent.

You can charge whatever you want, I'm just curious what "extra" steps you find yourself going through with private parties to merit your variable price.

Arrogance has to be earned.

Dealing with assholes who think you do not need their DL and ship from address that does not exists. Dont not how to ship a firearm, ship firearms that are illegal.

By law I do not need their ID, but I have to account where the gun came from and putting a fake address on my books is not my idea of fun when ATF going to start questioning me.

Last week spend 5 hours on the phone with a guy who decided that instead of paying a local FFL he would be driving 2 hours to a FEDEX facility and shipping it him self. Where shit head at FEDEX refused to send it to my mailing address because according to "their" files that address was listed to a motorcycle shop. Explaining that both of them that it is MY FUCKING shop didn't account to anything.

Working with another FFL is simple as Here is my FFL via e-mail. Pop a cold one wait for it to arrive in 2 days.

Not every transaction is bad, but when I hear that it is via private party I inform people upfront that it might be royal pain in the ass.
