Big Bend Lake Fishing

Has anybody fished at Big Bend Lake in Des Plaines? My friend and I are planning to go fishing there next week. Neither of us have ever fished before and we are total n00bs. Any tips? If you've fished at Big Bend before, where should we set up camp? Are there some general guidelines about how to find a spot to fish. My friend likes cat fish but I don't really care what kind of fish we catch. Probably going to grill them up.

You might be better off at the Skokie Lagoons.
Don't forget to get a fishing permit.

If the weather holds up, I might join you guys.

Where can I buy one? I know they can be bought online, but I'd rather buy it in person. Can I go to Town Hall to get one?

My friend found a bunch of worms in his backyard so we are going to use them.

And what are you using for rods, twigs?

Its just a printed paper which has your name and info along with a permit number. It can be purchased at any sports store and costs about $13-15. Best bet is to buy it online, print it, and keep it on your wallet.

We have actual fishing rods. What is wrong with fishing with worms.

Nothings wrong with it. Its the way you said it.
Just grab em from a live bait store. They are like 3-5 bucks. Too much work to dig and get dirty.
