"The Rossi Ranch Hand has a 12" barrel chambered in either .38 Spl./.357 Mag., .44 Mag. or .45 Colt. It will retail for $536."

That is pretty cool for us that can remember The Rifleman.

What is the point? A lever action pistol?

Now if it was in 30/30, I'd be in line.

The BATFE considers that a pistol?

Looks like a buttstock to me.

Ahh, I was looking at the Mares Leg link at work. I didn't catch these were two different pistols.

$536, yes, I'd be on top of that.

Apparently some online distributors have them for in the $300 range. I'm about it at that price.

Seriously though, how is this not a Class 3/SBR firearm?

Preemptive strike: don't say because it was never classified as a rifle receiver, therefore it's a legal pistol. I'm talking about the buttstock. Throw a buttstock on a Glock and you have an SBR. How is this circumventing that?

Probably the same premise as if you bought a lower receiver for an AR and titled it as a pistol instead of a rifle. And before anyone ask's......Yes when you buy just the receiver you can buy it as a pistol or rifle. After that you cannot change it from pistol to rifle without a lot of headaches.

If you put a buttstock on a pistol AR, it's considered an SBR too though.

Pistol AR

SBR AR

It's not a full buttstock though, it's truncated. And it's firing "pistol" rounds. (not sure if that last part means anything)

If two different shops are making them, then I'm thinking it's made it past the ATF.

Google Search, was quoted on THR or similar forum. I think it was around $365 or so at an online retailer. Don't hold me to that though. Let me see if I can dig it up.

One could argue that a permanently collapsed AR stock is not a "full" buttstock too... I wonder if I could get that past the ATF...
