Remington Apache 77

I thought this was just a crappy plastic stocked .22, but it appears (looking at gunbroker) that they can fetch a pretty penny. What's the story with these, are they worth anything? If they are what makes them worth something?

Their value is more akin to that of a "classic car," rather than a high-end rifle.

I found this nice little article talking a bit about the history of the whole "nylon series" from Remington. They seem to offer some neat innovations for its era.

Yeah, if you're looking for something to actually shoot, the Ruger 10/22 with some quality .22LR ammo is a pretty good tool.

I should qualify why I am asking. I was given an Apache 77 for free by my boss. I thought it was ugly and wanted to rattle can the shiny green plastic stock flat black or something. I thought I should see what it was worth before I butchered it and saw them in similar condition to mine for $200-300+ so I was curious.
