Zombie Shoot FAQs
Here it is, your Zombie Shoot FAQs.

1. When is the shoot?

The shoot is on Saturday October 23rd from 9:00am to 4:00 PM. The event will be a "carnival" like event so shooters can come and go throughout the day as they please. Shoot all day or just a few hours.

2. What kind of events will there be?

We will have multiple events. A short list of stages inlcude:
Tactical Pistol stages (Multiple themes)
Tactical Shotgun stage (Junkyard Theme)
Tactical Rifle stages (Multiple Themes)
"Traditional" Shotgun (2-Man Zombie Flurries)
Archery
Throwing Knives
And more...
3. What do I need to bring?

Shooters will need to bring the following
FOID card if Illinois resident
Eye and Ear protection
Any guns they wish to use (must have cases). Stages are geared towards modern semi automatic rifles and pistols. 30 round magazines are recommended for rifle and standard high capacity magazines for pistols. Traditional Shotgun stages will be geared towards any over under or semi auto gun for trap or sporting clays.
Clothing appropriate for the weather (Expect anything! Last year we had snow in the morning and went home sunburned)
Ammunition for your guns. Some notes, no steel core ammunition If you're unsure, try to see if a magnet will stick to your ammunition. Shotgun ammunition should be 7.5 shot.
4. Do I need to shoot all the events?

No, you can shoot as many or as few events as you choose. Your admission fee will include several event tickets and more event tickets will be available on site.

5. Do I need a FOID card?

Yes, see question 3. You will need a current valid FOID card if you are an Illinois resident.

6. Will there be food provided?

There will several local vendors from the Waterman area providing food options.

7. Can children under 18 shoot?

Yes, but they will need to be directly supervised by a parent or guardian.

8. Can I sponsor the event?

Yes, of course you can. Email [email protected] to inquire about sponsorship opportunities.

Just signed up now. Looking forward to this again! Hopefully no snow or rain this year.

Eric do you know if they put a limit on registration? How many spots open/available?

There is a limit, but this event is much, much larger than last year. I think John said 200 people or thereabout!

And, since this is already taking off better than ASC expected (and they need the money), rumor has it they are already planning for next years event to be TWO days of shooting!

Registration is now open for the 2010

ASC Zombie Shoot.

Last year, 72 shooters were able to enjoy this event. It sold out in about 24 hours. This year, we will be able to accommodate many more shooters with a slightly new “carnival” style format, but still, this event could sell out quickly.

The entrance fee for the event will be $25 for ASC Members, $30 for guests and the entrance fee will include an event T-Shirt ($2 additional for 2XL and larger shirts).

The event will also be supporting the local chapter of the Marine Corps “Toys for Tots.” Shooters bringing a new unwrapped toy to the event will get more chances to shoot.

To register, go to the event website at www.thezombieshoot.com

(Direct link to registration is http://www.thezombieshoot.com/p/regi...formation.html)

For ASC Members looking to help with the shoot, we will need plenty of help the day of the event. Anything from parking assistance, helping a stage, helping our guests find their way around the club etc. Please send an email to John Kopecky at [email protected] with “Zombie Shoot Volunteer” in the subject line.

We also will need help on at least 2 days prior to the event; a stage and target building party on Sunday September 26 (9am - ??), and our set-up day on Friday October 22 (9am -??.)

Thanks for reading and we look forward to have you out at the event.

So is it 1 ticket per shooting event or something? This sounds very cool!

Excuse to go pick up a shotgun.... and a micro red dot for it!

I'm in. Now the tough decision of which weapons will be serving zombies lead...

It would be very COOL if there was a combined stage. Like, tactical rifle to pistol, when the AR locks open, drop so it slings left hip and grab the 45 from right hip and continue feeding

Last year was (very) casually timed and scored. If I remember correctly, all you had to do was pass each challenge and you'd get put into a raffle for a new shotgun they were giving away.

John (who is the Action Shooting Board member of ASC) is learning how to run these things better and better every month. I would expect there to be times and scored, and probably prizes, but you can shoot it fun and casual if you care to. This years is going to be much larger than last years, and last years was very well done, so I have high hopes for this years.

Clevis is in. It says they will have a zeroing area set up, not sure what ranges though. If they only have a 25y I have 25y targets that will yield a 50/200 BZO for red dot and and the another for irons.

I just got 1 of mine zeroed for 50/200 for red dot and BUIS at willow slough.

Might bring her twin and try to get her zeroed...

Anyone got an extra pistol I can use while at the event? :P Preferably 9mm, but beggars can't be choosers. :P

I loaned my 9mm to my dad while he drove cross country to CA. Still have to ship it back here.

Eric - a couple of questions for you, since you're the defacto ASC rep here.

How do they deal with gun handling between stages? Carry only in cases & uncase before each run? Are holsters for handguns used/allowed? I imagine hauling around a bunch of hardware and ammunition between stages might be a bit of a PITA?

For the rifle stages, will a pistol caliber carbine also be acceptable? I was thinking of bringing my Marlin Camp Carbine (9mm) for a few fun runs.

Any restrictions on smoking @ ASC? Being outdoors, it'd be a perfect opportunity to enjoy a cigar or two!

Finally, you & Bri want to carpool?

Just received the following e-mail with new info regarding the event. Presumably the rest of you who registered got it too.

The reason I'm posting about it, are for any interested folks who did NOT get an opportunity to register.

Quote:
On-site registration may be available, but we cannot guarantee it. We understand there are people who want to shoot but didn't register before online registration closed. After the event opens we will monitor the traffic flow at the stations to see if we can safely allow additional shooters. If on-site registration opens it will be at a cost of $30 and does not include the event t-shirt. Spectators will be allowed to view the event at no cost.
So if you're interested, didn't register, but intend to come on out, bring your guns anyway!

Quote:
Stations for this year‟s shoot are:
•Tactical Shotgun “Junkyard”, sponsored by Law Enforcement Targets
•Tactical Pistol “Graveyard”, sponsored by SAFER USA
•Tactical Pistol “Rest Stop”
•Tactical Rifle “House”
•Tactical Rifle “Defend the Bunker”, sponsored by Smart Targets, LLC
•Tactical Rifle “Highway to Hell”
•Traditional Shotgun “Damsel in Distress”
•Knife and Ax Throwing, from Midwest Knife & Ax Throwers
•Sight In Range, sponsored by ZombieAmmo.com

Sounds like good stages... what to bring, what to bring....

Anyone wanna check anything out?? i'll bring it so you can give it a run.

EDIT: Our MP5's might not be back from HK yet and we have a limited number so none are issued out, but might be able to snag one of those...
