Opinions on Kimber TLEII

Funny how I come here for firearm advice before anywhere else, haha.

Looking at getting myself a Kimber Custom TLE II or even the RL version if I can find one that fits the budget.

What say the firearm gurus have to say about this piece?

1st bitch anyone is going to have will be about the external extractor. I've never had an issue.

Otherwise it's just another decent built .45. No cons. no pluses from me. If it suites your needs as far as size finish and acc rail goes then it's all good. Kimber is still a well built gun for teh $.

Arrogance has to be earned.

Ya, but the older ones with externals are floating around out there. He said fit his budget so I didnt want to discount the posability of a used one.

Avoid external extractors.

Roger.

Anything else to look out for?

And yes, Ponch is right on. The one I'm looking at currently is used -- allegedly less than 100 rounds through it. Has the internal extractor from what I can tell -- going to ask the seller to verify.

Just to make sure I'm not fooling myself here -- $750 shipped is a pretty good price right?

If it's got less than 100 rds, the finish ain't beat to shit, no huge idiot mark, and it's an internal extractor, yeah I'd say that's a decent deal.

The kimbers with External extractors will be repaired by kimber for free. I sent mine in and they sent me an entire new slide with the internal extractor. new ones come with internals

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Yes. This is happening.

Funny little story. I remember when this model first came out, and I was just a kid (was a bigger gun nut as a kid than i am now) flipping through gun magazines at Borders, and, there was a huge promotional article covering it. It was the first 1911 I ever actually liked the looks of.

I have the Pro II TLE/RL. I lubs it- It's pretty, fits my hands well (which is the reason I bought it), and is as overpriced as my Macbook.
I bought three extra tactical mags for it. I'm not a weapons guru by any means, but having the extras are pretty nice. Damn CLSB peeps, convincing me so easily to buy more stuff I don't really need!
