The entire 870P line up is drilled and tapped. Only the MCS comes with the rail attached from the factory.

EGW makes a good rail for the money. On a shotgun I don't think the robust build of an all stee; rail is needed as much as a good set of mounting screws..

Simple red dot?

Nothing wrong with running a reddot, but I'm with Tony on this. I had one on one of my Mossberg 500 HD guns and it added nothing at all to the platform aside from weight.

I think lasers on most guns are lame as fuck but I'd go that route before I put a reddot on a HD gun.

Red dot or not, if your cheek/head is down and you're ready to take a shot, 80% of the shot is going to go where you're looking. If you need higher than 80% on target, you probably should not be using a shotgun.

What "moa" is a typical bead? For shooting slugs at 50-100 yards I figured a 4 moa red dot would do the trick. Thought the bead might cover too much of the Target for that kind of shooting.

You cant miss with a shotgun whenit's being used as a shotgun but when you use slugs you now have a .50" rifle. And a miss is very easy due to the recoil. So given the fact that he mentioned he's gonna be slugging, I think the red dot is a good idea.

woke up to 2 pretty ladies. they weren't drilled and tapped tho.... but I will take care of that.

aside from the drilling and tapping they are beauties. finish is great, bead looks centered, action is smooth, trigger about as crisp as you can get for a shotgun. i am impressed.

looking at the bead, i think i would be able to slug out to 50yd and still hit paper plate. anything beyond that I think i would need a dot tho, but we'll see.

dummy rounds are inbound for loading practice probably should have asked the reloaders 1st, but it was impulse
