Thought is pass along the reason I'm eating ramen for the next week.

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...istol+Grip+Kit

I called and confirmed it holds 5 shell, so as long as you don't put the pistol grip on, its legal in the city

Cook county assault weapons ban

(4) A semiautomatic shotgun that has one or more of the following: (A) Only a pistol grip without a stock attached; (B) Any feature capable of functioning as a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand; (C) A folding, telescoping or thumbhole stock; (D) A fixed magazine capacity in excess of five rounds; or (E) An ability to accept a detachable magazine;

(5) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

Edit sorry for some reason I was thinking sawed off = no stock. Brain dart, I need to sleep more

Chicago.

Hell, I can own full auto and suppressors here (extra license and rubber glove.) Figured the federal shotty laws are pretty lenient.

Just to be clear, you can saw off the barrel of a shotgun, so long as the barrel length is over that 18".

From the ordinance: “Sawed-off shotgun” means a shotgun having one or more barrels less than18 inches in length and any weapon made from a shotgun, whether by alteration, modification or otherwise, if such weapon, as modified, has an overall length of less than 26 inches

Yup. Therefore if you had a 28" barrel, you could slice off 10" to bring it down to 18" AS LONG AS the overall length of the weapon still met the 26" minimum requirement.

I seem to recall having this debate, within the last year. Someone else was having a difficult time grasping at the different criteria regarding the barrel length vs overall firearm length.

So do you think CPD is going to kick down your door for a pistol grip?
Or Cook County Sheriff?

Home rule would apply to what you posted earlier about CC vs Chicago no?

A mossberg 500 is a pump, not a semi-auto. According to the "law" only a semi auto is "banned" from having a psitol grip without stock, front grip, folding/telescoping/thumbhole stock, more than 5 rounds in a fixed mag or detachable mag.

What IL needs is a law like WI has where no city or county can make stricter firearm laws than the state.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

"Preemption"

Almost passed along w/ CCW.... IIRC it was 8 votes short? We are behind the curve.

Wouldn't be surprised if those plotting evil moved to IL because of more opportunity and less chance of being shot by an law abiding citizen

No, I don't think they would come through my door for it. Just figured I'd err on the safe side, and maybe someone here could use it. Moreover, I just don't want the damn thing, I think they're ugly.

Would be a plus for WI if all the criminals (and democrats) headed south.

Picked it up on Friday, only got to put 5 shells through it, but felt pretty good. That foregrip wobble kind of bothers me though
