Sycamore Sportsman's Club

I can't believe information is so sparse on this place.

All over the internet, I've read different hours of operation. 10am-4pm, 12:30-5, and more. No one answers a phone there, reviews vary wildly, etc.

I want to go tomorrow, so does anyone have some actual concrete information on this place? Anyone else going tomorrow? I'm going to finally shoot my Mosin.

Dont bother calling or leaving a message...tried that.

I drove past it last summer on a weekend and it was packed. Looked to have a couple trap courts, handgun, and rifle range. Aerial view confirms.

I plan to check it out again soon, but not tomorrow.

Private, members only.

Not a member and it's 20 miles and 30 minutes further away.

ASC requires a membership.

Sycamore use to have member rates and higher public rates.

ASC hasn't been close to Aurora in years. I wish they were as the old club is 5 mins away.

Sycamore is not that close to Waterman though for someone coming from the city they are about the same distance west.

Sycamore is a crappy run down place. Last time I was there it was $10 for non-members. Your best bet is to get there before noon on Sat or Sun. I've looked into a membership there and its really not worth it. The range officers are total dicks, and I watched them totally yell and tear down a guy for an innocent mistake. Totally uncalled for...

Plenty of ASC members here on CLSB, just setup a range day, each member can bring in three guests.

I had a fantastic experience there and would gladly go there every weekend.

Their hours are 12:30-4:00. I think I got there around 12:00 and was one of the first there. Walked up to who I thought was working, said it was my first and what to do. He happily told me to sign in and that I can put my stuff where I want to shoot, but not to un case my rifle or anything. At 12:30 there was a quick safety talk, which amounted to how the range works and a reminder on how to move a gun if you switch to a different distance.

I saw people with chairs and rifle rests, so I asked where they were and if I was free to grab the stuff. He happily said it was in the little shack. I shot a bit over 100 rounds over 3 "sessions" and then did a quick clean at my spot after the 4th session started.

They were all nice, helpful when I needed and it was easy to understand what was expected of me. At one point when I was firing, a worker came to me and pointed out that I was chambering my rounds with the butt on the table and front on the rest which resulted in the rifle being pointed in the air above the dirt stop. I apologized and corrected my actions. No problems after that.

Not sure why I hear so many problems about this place.

Great place.

Open to the public sat. and sun. from 1230pm - 4pm.

Bring your own targets and staple gun to mount them to backboards.

I try to hit that place up atleast two weekend a month in the summer.

Not quite sure how one is able to see how busy it is or not just from driving by, because you can't see the parking lot from the street.

I had zero problems getting back there. Google Navigation knew exactly where it was.
