I assumed you'd put it on the front sight, not the slide, but to each, their own.

Looks nice!

I like peeps that think like I do, I did the same thing. Diane told me they do make glow in the dark nail polish so I might even try that. Nice job by the way.

Pretty easy, just need some Isopropyl, nail polish remover, and the color of your choice polish. Clean it off with the alcohol, then wipe it all over the letters. Let it dry, then use a cotton ball with remover and gently wipe off what you painted. The paint that sinks into the engraving will be spared, the rest wipes off. Do as many coats as you like, some parts you'll have to sorta "edge" it in, like I had to do with the L on the big glock.

That stuff won't do anything at night as it looses its charge in minutes. They use the same stuff for IFF patches, fine for 10 minutes but done after that- worthless on a gun.

Never heard of Tritium paint either, but probably equally worthless or it would be more widely used.

It may be cheap but it's harder for the eye to pick up than white. There's a reason why most night sights have a white/high vis halo around the Tritium vial on the front sight if not on both front and rear.

A blacked out rear makes it easier to focus on the front sight but a dim set all around makes it very difficult to pick up anything unless you have perfect lighting conditions (daylight with the sun at your back).

If you can find SuperLuminova paint, rock and roll, it probably will be cheaper just to get night sights though.

+1

Night sights are cheap enough that to spend any ammount of time on something that won't work or worse ruin the finish of your weapon would be a waste of time and money. Buy once, cry once.

That looks nice.

Someone else around here did that on his H&K p30 a couple years ago. I think he used Testor's model paint in red.

Did you clean out the engraving? I had the benefit of having a almost brand new gun, but I'd imagine if had some mileage on it, thered be some dirt stuck in there. I also ended up doing like 3 or 4 coats.

I did the same to my upper on my Ruger,
and then I had to send it away for a fix.
I got the new upper and I'm doing that again.
