The OP never meant for it to be a discussion so I moved it to F/S forums and cleaned up the banter at their request.

Remember to include the shitty ass laws for Illinois. With a Florida ID, I can buy a long arm in Georgia and walk out the door with it the same day.

Supressors are a 6-12 month wait, then the $200 tax stamp, and sometimes you get hit with the other $200 manufacture tax. Best to buy used and only pay one $200 tax. It's lame that a $169 short barrel for an AR-15 has $400 worth of taxes added to it.

Too late. SD got the boot that may have earned a ban, but no where near a perma-ban. A week would be fine, considering he has helped the community and had been a part here for a long time. No threats were made.

Are you sure about that? I thought that across state lines you need to use an FFL. That's a Federal law, not State.

i would like to apologize first for getting someone banned because of a thread i started. i know i did not make a lot of friends here when i first signed up. rookie mistake

but i did not mind the thread becoming a discussion. if it was about the firearm. ie: mag cap. pros and cons. maintenance, ammo. why is my price not fair. that type of stuff. but it wasnt even close to that

im new to this but i did my homework and read up on illinois laws concerning transfers . the ftf form i used was actually from here. i have about 20 copies for future purchases

but what sd did was leave comments without making a point. and started to question my intent and insulting people. and resorted to namecalling when no one could understand what he was trying to get accross. and to assume that im buying a handgun just to shoot someone is low

all i wanted was to get a used firearm without paying for brand new prices.

once again i apologize.

whatever, im out have a nice one

It's not a permanent ban and it was more than just that one thread that caused it.

Nothing to apologize about man. Being a moderator in a board is a thankless job, but then when people start getting personal it goes from thankless to just ridiculous. (Like Chris said, that was not the only reason, it was a pattern of behavior.)

This is one of the greatest communities I have been a part of, and we have great moderators and better members. It is sad that people sometimes are scared to post for fear of ridicule. We are all noobs at something in our lives and banter is great, but educating each other in a respectful way is better.

We have a place where people can go off on each other, that is a lot more permissive than other places. So we are not trying to be clean, or perfect or go all Disney... we are just trying to keep things constructive. Obviously telling someone, hey chill out is not working.

We are just trying to tip the scales from douchebaggery to constructive a little more. Fill the hole if you want to, just be constructive in the general forums for the new people.

I ask at the gun shop. I can get a long arm in 5 minutes, but cannot buy a pistol with out of state ID. They will ship to Florida, (this shop pays the $24 transfer), and I would pay less than $10 for shipping. Seemed fair to me.

As stated, all NFA items (supressors, machine guns, SBR's, AOW's, DD) are goverened by teh ATF thus NATIONAL law, not local.

All NFA items must be processed through the ATF office and can not be transfered to the end user til the proper tax has been paid, paperwork properly submitted, paperworked approved and finaly returned to a Class III dealer to do the transfer. teh "average" FFL is not authorzed to make the transfer it must go through a special license. Special meaning they have paid a special tax to be authorized and regulated a little diffrent

Arrogance has to be earned.
