I would go with the gold dots because they are bonded. I'm almost certain neither of the federal are bonded.

Gold Dots are the standard that others are judged by. i would go with the GD as well.

I also like 124gr bullets in general. My reloads are typically Montana Gold 124gr JHP that shoot similarly to the GD 124gr.

Good info Eric, but now doing my own testing, Ballistic gel vs water, the results are insanely different. I find some bullets and loads don't expand all that well in gel but really well when fired into water. I am using a series of different materials before they hit the water or gel. The other day I test fired a 95g Hornady XTP (9 Mak) thru 2 pieces of leather (stimulating a person wearing a leather jacket) into the gel, got perfect expansion, it was text book. Tried the same with water and didn't. I suspect the leather plugged the HP and made it act like a FMJ. I will post up everything once I finished all the testing.

Sometimes goodbye is your second chance.

Water by nature doesn't compress, so it's like hitting a solid object on impact.

Example, Myth Busters just did a special where they testing random things fans requested, and one was something like "how many watermelons with a Desert Eagle .50 AE shoot through". They lined up 15 of them I think...but the bullet only made it through 3. The water just slows down the round differently than flesh/meat.

Disclaimer: I don't own a 9mm and so I don't shop for 9mm rounds.

My opinion though is that is A LOT of $. I can get 45ACP rounds for that price. There are a couple websites that have been listed here before (I always forget to bookmark them and am too lazy to search for them now) where they list and compare prices for ammo at several on line/ physical stores. I've read that ammo prices are suppose to be coming back down but then I've been too poor to buy ammo so I haven't been paying attention.

These are high end personal defense rounds. They tend to be pretty expensive.

I'm not sure if that's a good price or not, I don't have any links saved on my work PC.

+1!

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

Seems like a good price if we are talking about the same thing: CCI Speer 9mm 124 gr Gold Dot HP Ammunition. If so, Natchezss has them for $20.61 per 20 ct box, plus shipping. That is $1.03 + tax per round.

Natchez in my experience has been great on prices. On occasion I find stuff cheaper elsewhere, but no way would the difference be anywhere close to what you are paying.
