Nicky, you missed this months, it was the 16th. But someone will make sure to post the sign up for next months as soon as it's available. I couldn't make it this month, but I hope to next month. It's really a lot of fun.
To your questions:
1.What do I need minus rounds: Your functioning rifle, rifle case, a chamber flag if you have one - I would also dress for the weather, and bring lots of water and probably some snacks. Obviously, Eyes and Ears; and gloves if you wear them.
2.Where is the registration now: Someone will post it once next months is up
2.How trying is this for someone new, now im not new to shooting by any means, closest thing to this I have done with a rifle was the Zombie Shoot.: Zombie Shoot was similiar - But this will work on specific skills - For example, learning to shoot around barricades, "slicing-the-pie", shooting weak-hand alternating with strong hand, shooting close up, then at distance, and maybe even shooting prone. Even if you don't know how to do any/all of this stuff right now - it's a great way of seeing what you need work on. If you can safely shoot your rifle, then you're fine for the Practical Rifle event.
Some of the guys that run it will offer you suggestions, and some won't. I forget his name, but the one military guy who ran one stage last month stated several times that if we have any questions TO ASK. So when I asked to clarify one point about the order of taking down the targets, he looked at me like I was stupid, took a deep breath, then answered the question. He did this kindness for anyone who asked a question - he doesn't seem like he wants to help anyone, he just wants to get everyone in and out of the stage quickly. So don't expect any instruction on how to improve what you need to work on, that's something you need to work on yourself.
Check You Tube for some videos from VTAC and others who teach practical rifle. Find the Magpul Tactical Carbine videos. That will give you a great foundation to start from, and the rest is just practice.
Edit to Add: Here is the link for the practical rifle. They should post next months sign up here when they get around to it:
