Wanted: Mosin Nagant

I'm looking to setup a Mosin Nagant for Brianne. Anyone have one they'd sell me? I haz cash in hand. I'd also be open to be picking up a spam can or two of ammo if someone has some.

You're in fucking FLA. What good would that do me here in IL. I might as well just order one online and have it sent to my local FFL.

That is, unless you happen to be a Mosin Nagant guru and you can hand pick me a real nice one? That might be worth the shipping and transfer fees.

Check out Cabela's. My brother in law and nephew each got one for christmas and each of em cost 100 bucks, with a soft case, bayonet, and a few other goodies.

I know of lots of places to buy them online, I was just wondering if I could find one locally.

That's a great price on a laminate stock one though. I've got a laminate stock and wouldn't mind another...but if I was going to order online, I'd try and find a downturned bolt so I can scope it for Brianne the nearly blind.

that would cost you about $400 - you are talking about Mosin Sniper

cheaper to get regular one and spend 100 to reweld the handle and cut recess in the stock

RGUNs in Carpentersville has the Nagants with downturned bolt for $155, but they are grade A douches (the folks that work there, not the guns). I don't want to spend money there unless it's my last resort.

There is also a guy that modifies bolts, but he's backlogged 3 months.

I'm giving both Cabela's a call in the morning to see if they have any Mosin in stock.

That doesn't include the mount and scope, these are just Mosin with a downturned bolt. *NOT* the cut/drilled and tapped crap, but an actual bolt.

Seriously, it you want to borrow mine for an extended amount of time and cut the bolt, that's fine. I want to put a scope (either period correct or super modern) on it anyways.

And didn't Bri the blind outshoot you last year Eric? Just sayin'.

Oh, I never said Brianne wasn't a good shot. She regularly outshoots most everyone. But she needs a scope to do so.

Dave, I'd consider taking you up on that, but you'd probably never get your rifle back. Plus, I'm almost positive that we'd need to use an FFL, even if you're just loaning it to me.

I hate selling firearms, but I'll loan them out for an extended amount of time. FFL shouldn't be needed. I can "sell" it to you, I'll copy my Florida ID, you send me a copy of your FOID, and all is good in the hood.

If you come across some scope set ups, PM or call me.

I may be mistaken, but I am pretty certain that is a NOGO. Unless you are still considered a resident of IL, still have your FOID, and did the transfer in IL.

Hold it tight to your shoulder Mine never did, my Mauser has a more apparent kick.

Eric if you pick one up I have dies and brass (once fired) for the MN that I might want to sell. I don't think I will be picking up another.

Rinks has about 13 of them there w hex receiver and w/o I was just there a week ago ranging from $109-145 for the hex. I bought mine there and did all the refinishing myself. Comes with the whole setup minus a soft case. They are local and will deal on price.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1341668626.164849.jpgI also received a gift from a friend if you look at the stock I have a recoil reduction butt pad on there, work like a million dollars. Cost was like $15 it makes a world of diff. Replaces the metal one without drilling and lets you put tons of rounds thru without and shoulder problem. Might be good for your daughter

Rick, I was just thinking about picking up some dies. I've already got powder and a casting die for the projectile. I just need dies and brass. Keep me in mind if you want to sell them!

I've got one of those for my current Mosin; I like the longer length of pull, and if you drill out those holes all the way through, it compresses a little better. I'm planning on getting one of those for Brianne's Mosin once I figure out which one to get her.

I picked up my new Mosin with a downturned "sniper" bolt on Monday.

I'm going to work on cleaning out the cosmoline and taking it out for a test run on Sunday!

Photos coming soon. I've been sick with a cold all week and pretty much going to work, coming home and sleeping...rinse and repeat.

I put the brass and dies aside for you, I will be at the ASC for the rifle shoot on the 27th, hopeful we can arrange a meet up. Hope you feel better soon. FYI I hate cosmoline, the only thing that removes it quickly I found was gasoline.

Warm Mineral Spirits is supposed to work just as well with less fumes. Then a warm sunny day will help the stock bleed out the cosmo, so I'm going to let them (I have two now) sit out on the deck and wipe them down occasionally this weekend. So I'm taking them down and soaking the metal parts tonight or tomorrow so I can go out on Sunday and sight them in. I noticed that even those these rifles are only a year apart, they have completely different front sight posts on them. I have a feeling one is going to shoot way high with it's short post.

I forgot to say, I've signed up for the event...but I thought it was on the 21st. Crap, I'm very confused now.

Edit to add: I just checked - That's why I was confused...I have family coming in on the weekend of the 27th, so I couldn't make it then...but the date on the sign up sheet says the 21st.
