CLSB Bird Hunt - 2nd Round

Ok Lets start kicking some dates around for the next bird hunt. Are we in agreement that the place in Gardner was acceptable? Not the wildest of terrain but it does assure we'll get our birds for the most part.

The weekend I was looking at is January 24th - Saturday 1 pm again? Its not as far off as it sounds. It'll be here in no time with the Holidays upon us. If we have more guys that may affect how he has us set up in the fields so post up if your going to join us.

Does that day work for others?

The cost will be between $100 and $115 roughly depending on how many go and if we need more dogs or not. Mine cant hunt for 10 guys...sorry.

if i pumped my red rider bb gun like 15-20 times do you think it would be sufficient for this type of hunting?

Mike,

Count me in and possibly my friend Mike. Saturday January 24th. Sounds good. I'll have to get a hold of Mike tonight and see if he can make it.

Chris,

If you want to come, but do not have a shotgun, I have plenty If you do not have a FOID card, I will bring ammo for you (you pay for that), you'll need a hunting license and habitat stamp.

This was a Lab that was down at the farm and appeared to have a very *poor* attitude. The guy said it had ripped into a couple of dogs already. Not a typical Lab.

If yours isnt trained for hunting I dont think we'll need it. Thanks anyway

I think most true hunters care about their dogs. You invest a lot of time, money in them, I won't want my dog chewed up by some ill tempered dog. I take care of my tools. When I hunt over a dog, I always think of the dog first and the bird and shot second. I wouldn't want anyone to shoot my dog, and I don't want to shoot anyone else dog either. So on the 24th lets be careful and not shoot Diamond or each other.

Sometimes goodbye is your second chance.

Gee sounds familiar!

Brief summary.......We were working a long stretch with clearing on each side when Diamond flushed a rooster. He stayed low and across the rough and since it was my shot there was a questionable safety zone issue so i called off the shot and allowed Mike to take it due to his angle. I know it sounds crazy but when the adrenilin hits and a rooster flushes (USUALLY) the tendency is to blast away but with good skills you realize you must take into effect the surroundings, field of view, and most importantly FIRE CONTROL! I must say for Tony's first time he did OUTSTANDING! It made for a great day!

Gotta have pulled porkagain! (with NO KETCHUP huh? )
