JFYI - State of the Industry

Just thought I'd give you a heads up as to the state of the industry.

I've chatted with several shops in the past week, and many of them are saying that AR parts are starting to get to the "if you order today, we should be able to get it to you by September time frame".

That's not for everything of course, and many parts are already in the pipeline, but it's getting there. All these guys who bought 5+ lowers in the past month are now looking for parts. So first the mags and lowers all got cleaned out, now it's looking like parts are getting cleaned out as quickly as shops get them in stock...and manufacturers are making them as fast as they can.

Add to that; due to the current political situations, many manufacturers who were planning on expanding, adding machines and staff...now they *won't*. They don't see it as fair to spend a half million dollars on expanding their shop and tools, hire and train highly skilled machinists; only to have to let them go in a few months because bans could cause the market to drastically contract, or have much downtime due to retooling to match whatever new rules the possible bans impose. So while manufacturers can and have ramped up production, some even running 24 hours a day...don't expect them to grow to meet demand.

It is what it is. This is a difficult time for all of us. We are embattled in defending our 2nd Amendment rights, broke, and scrambling for parts, ammunition, and reloading components. Hopefully some of you stocked up before all this happened.

Sorry for the ramble. I'm just getting frustrated and feeling like my hands are tied, as both a gun owner and a builder.

I stopped at JR's over lunch. They said they sold out of AR's within a few days of the "shooting" and haven't been able to get any components due to demand put on their suppliers. Really sad to see that just a handful of people without a clue and have such an adverse effect on so many people including gun owners, builders like yourself, and the manufacturing companies that are making these parts. All of this to give some people in this country a false sense of security.

My local shop has ARs in stock, but for what they are asking for them, I'm probably going to buy a Kriss and wait on the short barrel to get through NFA.

Seriously, I saw basic Colt ARs going for $1997.00!

What the fuck, I'll get a Kriss instead. Many people don't even know what they are, so it's not like there's a run on them.

Now the 33rd Glock mags for the Kriss are probably a different story...

Ahh, that was a special edition, only 250 made or something. Sold out in 24 hours. That's right up there with the "unicorn" aka Magpul AR Lower. You can find the stripped lower (pre-panic) going for $2500.

Things will settle. Now that everyone can chill about the executive orders just give it time for the ban to go no where. It won't pass the House, and then hopefully the panic buying will slow. Walmart is still receiving and selling colt ARs at MSRP. They are getting shipments all the time. Just not in Illinois.

I thought I read an article recently that Walmart has stopped ordering *all* ammunition, and semi-automatic rifles. One guy even went in and spoke with the sports department manager who attempted to special order a couple common items, and the system said unavailable.

That could have been an isolated incident, but they also could have capitulated.

Article was BS. I can tell you where a few stores that have some in stock are. I have a friend out of state that just got an email the other day that LE6920 came in. He went in and picked one up. I think he said just over $1000 OTD.

Fact in Colorado.

If you have sportsman's warehouses near you they're still getting orders in every friday. Selling bushies for $699 but there's a 7 or 8 hour wait at the door to even get a shot at them here.

Was just at the Bloomingdale Walmart. They had some ammo in stock. I spoke to the sporting goods manager. He said the story on the Internet is not true. The Illinois Walmarts don't carry firearms, but he said other states still do. Also said they are reordering ammo, but having a hard time getting it. When it does come in it sells fast.

Several Illinois Walmarts do carry firearms. Check out Montgomery and I think Plano.
