Any opinions on York Arms AR receivers?

After doing some general AR research I’m leaning a lot more towards the “build your own” direction to really make it my own right from the start. In light of all of the recent events going on, I’m really liking the idea of getting the Gadsden snake logo engraved on the magwell (see below) to kind of make it my own and representative of the times. I ended up finding the company that did the lower below is called York Arms. The reviews of it online are minimal from what I can find but thought I would see if anyone on here knows what to look for in determining the quality of a lower receiver. To the untrained eye, the engraving looks very solid and nice and deep where some of the others I’ve seen are a little on the “painted logo” side. They also do custom fire and safety words/icons but to keep things as legal as possible, safe and fire should do just fine for me. The website below has a bunch of pictures of some of the work they’ve done.

The price point at $225 shipped seemed somewhat reasonable, especially in today’s AR market but that opinion could change depending on your thoughts regarding quality. I’m not in any sort of hurry at this point, just finally getting the ball rolling on finally going in the direction of a rifle and want to back up some research.

No, I didn't see anything posted about that nor have I contacted them. Want to make sure they are worth checking out before spending the time on the phone waiting to talk to someone.

It looks like a perfectly standard lower. In that category, a lower is a lower is a lower, assuming they are milled correctly. An example of a bad one would be the AR57 lowers that hit PSA and some other stores. They will milled and drilled incorrectly, and don't mate up correctly with uppers. This is pretty rare these days though.

The price is high honestly. If it were in stock *now* and you'd have it in a week, sure I'd see paying the premium. But since it's several months out...unless you *really* need it, it just seems high. IMHO, stock, non-limited edition lower...I wouldn't pay more than $150 for it, especially if you're waiting *months* for it.

Have your credit card ready, be sitting at the computer, and scour every "AR Lowers In stock" thread on every gun forum, and be the first to get to the page and buy a lower when it's in stock.

This is what I did most of my Xmas vacation, to get the few items that FST and I have in stock, or on the way now.

Similarly, hit those same threads and look for any shop that's offering pre-orders...most of which are reporting 6-8 month backlog at this point. Some have even told me they have enough orders for 2 years, but are afraid to purchase more machinery and hire more staff because a gun ban could fuck up their business. In fact, several of the shops told me they are blacklisted for shipping to the state of New York since their recent ban went into place. They had to cancel orders and send refunds out to customers.

So, the short answer, is start searching. Nobody can do your homework for you, especially the way everything is changing from day to day. The Umbrella link I gave you (which goes on sale today I believe) is your best bet that I know of right now. Those lowers are in stock and shipping in the next week or two.

These are sketchy manufacture, and way overprice.
