NEW HUNT CLUB for the 24th OF JANUARY ? ?

LISTEN UP GUYS ! !

I talked with a guy this morning that has hunted this place earlier this Fall.

www.eriennahuntclub.com

He says the type of cover is about the same as the other place we hunted. The difference is it appears to be about 25% cheaper. Its $18.50 per pheasant and $12.00 for chukars. This is a chuckar for those that have never hunted them- would also make a nice addition to your wall if your looking to add to your collection !

http://www.vvpheasants.com/partridge.html

They are strong flyers and midway between a quail and pheasant in size. It may be a nice option to throw in if youre feeling like you brought your *A* game that day and can hit them !

I have to call and confirm that he has the 24th available. I assume that nobody has any issues with trying this place if it pans out?

Chime in guys

Heres whats/who's reserved for birds:

Me: 3 PH + 2 CH
Ken: 4 PH
Tony: 4 PH
Kelly: 3 PH + 2 CH
Rick: 3 PH + 2 CH
Bill 4 PH

Mike,

Why don't we do half pheasants, half chukars?

Each guy can do whatever he wants.

If you dont have any chukars reserved then when one gets up you bow to the guy that does. Im going to do both I think. I may buy one of each or so to get mounted. Get a nice one, ring it, and bag it to preserve the feathers from damage.

We'll see, just put together your wish list so I know what to tell the guy when I call him.

a good pheasant mount is about $120 - not sure about a chukar. Probably close to that

I just booked it guys. We're confirmed for the 24th of January at 1 pm. We should be there by 12:15 or so to get signed in.

OK then get your wish list in. Ill keep a tally on my first post. Im going to do 3 pheasants and 2 chukars I think. I talked with the farm manager Jason and he said that you'll only find about 60% of the chukars that you put out. 100% of the pheasants. Chukars just dissappear sometimes. Fly off I assume-simple bastards !

We will also need one more dog also. I think its about $10 per person if we just divide it 7 ways. cheap enough.

LOL no someone is not standing there releasing them. They go out before hand and release birds periodicaly in the field, then we go out. The only difference between this and normal is the fact that we know birds are out there.

Licenses - youll need a General IL Hunting License $7.50 and a IL Habitat Stamp $5

Orange vest and Orange Hat - Got a few

Shells: 2 and 3/4" #6 high brass - Lead shot

Tony explained how it works, Ill elaborate.

The farm puts out the amount of birds that we request in the fields.

We will go out probably in 2 different groups of 3 and 4. Ill be one group with my dog and the other group will have the guide and another dog. We will work behind the dogs and wait for the dogs to flush the birds ahead of us. As mentioned...everyone has to have self control and make sure that your line of fire is clear..be it the dogs or another hunter.

For me.. I could go and not actually hunt. I just love to train the dog and watch her work. Its a priceless sight to watch her get *birdy*. With that being said... Ill be shooting ! !

Let me know if you have any questions
