thinking of starting a sniper team (for fun)

Who else has rifles, and can maybe get together 2 times a month next year?

We can have like little shoot offs and so forth.

for anyone with a 22 and up can play one side.
Then those with 22 also or only, can still have shoot offs?

what ya guys think?

maybe hold this at the buffalo range next year, and ofcourse get there 1st thing in the morning when they open.

Only thing with 100yards only, i will make it challenging. Like shooting a 50cent piece or smaller instead of a 4 inch circle.

Stuff like that, give a warm up time the 1st few times we meet, then we start getting into more difficult shots, like cold bore 1st challenge, and so forth. And of course WINDY days, cold bore/ 5 shot round scoring. otherwise, from a cold bore, on a windy day, you only have 5 shots to make the best score as you can with your corrections. (hope you guys know what your doing...lol)

so what ya think, sounds fun?

although ill be runing it, we all could use spotters/scouts, but its not nessary.

chim in what you got, and if you think you woulda wanna join something like this.

That sounds cool. Gives me a reason to buy that riffle I was looking at.

I have a match grade AR and a we should have a shoot off with 22's. The last time I did a shoot off with a 22 it was 50 yards at a ping pong ball painted bright orange suspended off a 18" piece of string, now that is tough

I'm in for both .22 sniper and trap/skeet. I think the trap/skeet will work better and be more fun and interactive and there are plenty of close places to shoot around here.

I'll pass on the trap, unless we do international rules. Skeet we do international also, you have to mount the gun. Sporting clays is fun too.

ok it looks like we got a small rifle, and shotgun clay teams here.

KICK ASS. this should be fun, now that we got a couple.

please start making a list of who is in for sure.

then we can kinda pick like the 2nd and 4th weekend out of the months, and then go for it.

Are we going to set teams and compete against each other or?

I think we'll need alternates or substitutes if we do have teams. Can we trade people like the big leagues do? I dont have an agent !

Can somebody explain the differences between Trap = skeet = clays to me? I kind of thought they were all sort of the same..I guess not?

Skeet, you have eight stations in a semi circle, with 24 clays and one spare for total of 25, if you do international rules you mount the gun after calling for the clay, otherwise in America you can call for the clay with gun mounted. Trap.......and I hate trap, all the clays are going away from you and various angles. I hate trap shooters they are anal to the extreme, and usually blame the puller for their bad shooting. Clays, is 100 rounds at 10 different stages, some are doubles, some are report doubles, each stage is different and have different scenarios from "driven pheasant" to "running rabbits" which is a large reinforced clay running across rough terrain, which leads it to "bounce" like a rabbit, on your "report" ie gunshot, a "bird'' is released and you have to shoot that too. Each stage is a different combo of shooting. It's the closest thing to hunting.

Sometimes goodbye is your second chance.

honestly , i wanna keep it simple and FUN!

we all are the team, and its 1 winner kinda thing, 1st 2nd 3rd and so on. and we all have to be honest, while on the rifle range, i am not gonna sit there and watch every round you throw in.

and then we will score them later, on the clays, we will have the 1 round of single clays, and then a round of 10 2-clays, and a then another round with 3 clays. and for that we all can watch each other, and then score 1st 2nd and 3rd.

like that, keep it simple, fun!

and for a while untill i see everyone is super safe with gun handling, we will just keep our shot guns in our arms mounted and ready to shot, later in the year we can leave the chamber emtpy, and leave the gun on the table, call PULL mount our shotgun, and shot the clays, to make it more challenging. but thats after a few times of getting together.

so hope this explains it.

Whats the difference? A Ruger 10/22 from Walmart is pretty much the same as a Ruger 10/22 from Mega.

Skeet, the way we play.....a buck gets you in, then you pay a quarter for each clay you miss. Least amounts of misses wins For the math challenged, if you miss every clay it's 6.25 plus the dollar ante for a total of 7.25 If you can't get 12, you need glasses

If you guys want to shoot clay we should go up to the naperville sportmans club. I havent been there in a while but its nice and you dont need to be sponsored or any of that crazy stuff to play there. They do require steel shot but they sell it really cheap there also.

I'll be in for at least once a month either clay or target.
