Shotguns being outlawed in IL ?

I hope this link works. It says that there is a vote pending on the Senate floor banning all shotguns and many other guns. This is getting ridiculous

no possible way. These are used too much by sport shooters. I could see banning assault rifles or certian types of shotguns. I'm not an expert, but isn;t trap and skeet shooting an olympic event???

My favortie word this week is retarded. And liberals are just retarded plain and simple. Aything ot get a vote.

No way that will happen. Just like cherrypicker said there are too many sport shooters around to let it happen.

Yep, exactly. It IS happening, and it is unreal to me. Once out of the Chicago area, IL is nothing but farmland. WTF is the pupose of this bill? I find it hard to believe that there is not enough opposition by sportsmen, and women, that this hasn't been shot down.

Life has no instruction manual. Parts and labor can be impossible to find. Many go down the road with parts that are in need of service. A breakdown is eventual.

hey ol mighty bright 1, jimgofast posted this a while back when they were trying to pass that bill, from what i know..and i do know whats going on, right now it is sitting in limbo, and will never move.

even if 10 years down the line they look at this again, i will move out of ILL i am not getting ride of all my guns or giving up my rights as an american.

but i doubt it will move from where its at now.

the main reason they are trying to mess with this shit is cause the preband from when clinton put in affect exspires i think next year sometiime?

Yeah this is a pretty ridiculous proposal and I doubt that it will ever go through. And if it does go through, how many people do you think are going to willingly turn their guns in and not get money compensation? I know I won't be, they can come on over and get them.

From what I understand from a buddy of mine (active sport shooter) one can get introuble for just owning them.

And like Ody, he is ready to move across the border.

if the bill EVER gets past anyone with a gun, (except a 38 special) would be considered a felony.

This state is just plain ass-backwards with regards to gun laws. Check out www.packing.org for municipalities that have decided their laws are more important than the Second Amendment. In Highland Park, Moron Grove, Buffalo Grove, etc. you can be pulled over and if you are in possesion of a handgun, you can be charged with a felony. EVEN IF YOU ARE TRANSPORTING IT LEGALLY TO A SHOOTING RANGE AND HAPPEN TO DRIVE THROUGH THEIR CRAPPY TOWN. A little ridiculous. It doesn't help that we have the gun-grabbing governor that tried to raise the price of the FOI to $500 a few years back. And now they are slowly trying to erode our rights by taking away certain classifications of weapons (assault rifles, high-cap mags, shotguns, etc.)? That just plain pisses me off. I've been shooting for 20 years and it has never been as bad as it is right now.

persoanlly I think the 2nd amendment is very loosly interrpretted by the political right, but even without it, I don't think we need to ban shotguns. I don't see the justification either. Crimnal don't run around the street wiht shotguns... it's only practicle use given the limited number of runds you can carry and the slow rate of fire , is single intruder home defense, huinting or sport shooting.

I think as usual the liberals are hitting it from the wrong end. Yiou need stiffer penalties for violators and misuse of firearms.

I heard soemthing the other day that was funny I heard on Fox news....

"liberals think flies cause garbage"

They are looking at the wrong end of the problem to find a quick solution so they can get reelcted. 4 year solutions slam-bam never work.

It's funny, I used ot be a moderate liberal.... then I graduated college and got a job. When you live in the real world the republicans start making sense. Liberal idealology is for the unemployed, philisophers, and tofu chomping - cancer paranoid - tree huggers.

Well it’s a sad day for “the land of the free and the home of the brave”. As an ex gun owner of such weaponry as S&W 686 .357 Mag, Ruger P40, 40. S&W and Chinese 7.39mm SkS. I sold all except the SkS, I must admit, Illinois is a boring ass state, all we have here is… a good for nothing legislative... self-interest government. Moreover, what we don’t have…

I mean look… No natural wonders, No grate roads to ride, No grate sports teams to watch. Taxes out the ass. An high inflation. Maybe their trying to save us from our selves.

As long as they don't mess with the bike and my right to ride… I’ll live.
