Is Cook County Serious?

from: http://www.isra.org/

Quote:
ISRA Alert:
TOTAL COOK COUNTY GUN BAN CLEARS FIRST HURDLE

Rabid gun-grabbers on the Cook County Board came one step closer last week to instituting a total ban on firearm ownership in the county – except for police and military personnel.

Introduced by Commissioner William Beavers, the so-called “Safe Streets/Weapons Registration Ordinance” appears on the surface to be some sort of gun registration scheme. However, closer examination reveals that the only people who could comply with the registration requirements would be Chicago residents who had previously registered their guns with the city. Everyone else in Cook County would have to turn in their guns to the police. The ordinance would certainly ban all handguns as the ordinance disallows registration of handguns that do not have a “chamber load” indicator. Few, if any, handguns could comply with this requirement, so they would have to be surrendered to the police.

The full text of Beavers’ proposed ordinance may be found here. To learn more about William Beavers, click this link: http://www.co.cook.il.us/district04.htm .

William Beavers is an enemy to our Constitution and an enemy to all freedom-loving people of the United States. Call him at (312) 603-2065 and also call his other office at (773) 731-1515 and tell them exactly what you think of Beavers and his plan to disarm law-abiding citizens.

Another gun-hater on the Cook County Board is Larry Suffredin. Suffredin has fielded a proposed ordinance that would shut down all gun shops in the county. You may read about that ordinance by clicking here.

Larry Suffredin is an enemy to our Constitution and an enemy to all freedom-loving people of the United States. For full information on Larry Suffredin, click this link: http://www.co.cook.il.us/district13.htm . Call Suffredin at 847-864-1209 and 312-603-6383 and tell them exactly what you think of Larry Suffredin’s plan to punish law-abiding gun owners.

Even if you don’t live in Cook County, or even if you don’t live in Illinois for that matter, call anyway. Freedom is at stake here.

In addition to calling these gun-hating stooges, please do the following:

1. Post this alert to any and all Internet bulletin boards of which you are a member.

2. Send this alert to all your gun owning friends and ask them to call Beavers and Suffredin too!

Remember – preservation of our 2nd Amendment rights is a cultural imperative. Gun control is a disease; you are the cure!

Yes, Crook county is serious. And when it passes, and someday it or a law like it will, they will also try to legislate surrounding counties.

Wait
and
see....

So only the military, police and people who already have illegal guns will have them.

What will this change?

Right to bare arms will be wearing a T-shirt I guess.

ABC 7 news just aired their special I-team investigation on Chicago residents purchasing handguns from gun shops near the Chicagoland area. They cite holdups and gang shootings to Chicagoans purchasing handguns from shops. We all know when criminals want to go on a rampage, they head to the nearest gun shop, wait the mandatory waiting period, go through background checks and all that jazz. Get real!

Let's all send Chuck Goudie a nice email to clear things up.

I don't mind admitting that one of the main reasons I moved out of Crook County was their Bullshit Gun Laws..........

Weren't you one of the folks that said they aren't trying to take everything away. This is why you can't let government or any group ban anything. You give them an inch, they are coming back asking for a mile. The FOID system worked fine, maybe offer a class like MSF to all firearm owners, but leave it at that. Thugs on the streets never purchased guns legally, so this makes no sense. All this does is make the thugs feel safer when they want to rob you or harm you .

Ronald we enjoy more rights and freedoms now more than ever. Just because I let you in my house doesn't mean you can move in. Certain bans make sense and work. This obviously does not.

I am all for self defense and conceal carry but nothing scares me more than you clowns walking around with hand cannons. Just look at Firebretha's targets. Yeah I trust you guys aim.

Would this proposed ordinance pre-empt local laws from jurisdictions with home rule? Or would it just apply to unincorporated areas? That would be an interesting legal challenge.

Of course, all this could become moot depending on how the SCOTUS rules in the DC handgun case, which should take place sometime in spring.

I hate you.

Im glad I peed in your powder before I powdercoated your rearsets.

lol

No worse than allowing some bimbo on a cell phone with 6,000lb expedition while drinking her starbucks.

There are classes mandated for concealed carry, and some states, a board to approve you getting your ccw.

Plus I would hope someone getting their CCW has had more than only one trip to the range under their belt.
