My first one

Hope this pic is ok?

I've been boe hunting for four years now and learn something new each time out. This year with crutch in one hand and bow in the other and with zero scouting done, I set up shop in my usual place expecting nothing but a few sightings. And ended up getting my first deer with my daughter beside me.

What if I told you insane was working fifty hours a week in some office for fifty years at the end of which they tell you to piss off; ending up in some retirement village hoping to die before suffering the indignity of trying to make it to the toilet on time? Wouldn't you consider that to be insane?

The average bow hunter usually takes 7 years before bagging a nice buck

Kick ass. Damn I love venison. I'd shoot bambi and put it on a spit if I could.

Really? In IL I thought they were all over the place. Just ask Ernie.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

Conditions were the usual gray winter overcast, and not windy. Was sittin in a popup on a bucket since I couldn't climb a tree. Had my 11 yr old baby girl sittin just behind me in the corner watchin out the back door.
I was actually watchin a couple does run atop the ridge and headin for where my son was in stand. I had lost sight of the does and had just turned a round, wasn't even ready, with no arrow nocked. Got set, as he had his nose to the gound I let one fly. Got him up high and in the spine. The arrow didn't go through and went in at about a 45 facing forward. He took off ran back into the woods where the arrow caught a tree and broke. Which I think sent the blades slicin his back/spine. didn't go but 30 yards back into the woods. Shot him at roughly 12 yards away, and making alot of noise- i thought.
My huntin spot if on my inlaws family farm in Mt.Carroll. Galena-freeport area.
I get his head back in about a year, and he'll be lookin at everyone who walks in my front door.

Thanks for the write up! Whenever I get my first, I think I'll put it in my office...I see more of it than I do of my family room. Again, NICE buck!!!
