small weapon recommendation for women

hey guys,

I got someone looking for a small handgun for home defense. It will probably never be used, but she wants something small and easy to conceal. It will probably sit in a nightstand unless someone breaks into her house. Budget around $400

Any recomendations?

I agree but forgot to mention she didn't want a revolver

How does she know she doesnt want a wheel gun? what would the difference be if its strictly for home protection?

First, she is enrolling in a class, no worries

second, she just prefers not to get a wheel gun.

Brian in that case .380 or a Makarov 9 x 18, make sure you get one made just after the WWII and Soviet built...it's basically a Walther PPK, but should run around $160. The Soviet when they took control of their sector of Berlin, found a Walther factory, made some minor changes and called it a Makarov. It's my home defense gun.

You better teach her to clear every jam known to man...in the dark! And teach her basic home defense strategies....barricade in a safe room, dial 911, hit the panic button on the car keys....the gun is your last option!

for sure, ESPECIALLY if she has kids!!! As much training as I have had with guns, I don't want one right now because I don't want the liability. Home defense is not a legal reason to shoot someone. Make sure she understands that if she shoots a robber, she can be charged and/or sued!!!

As your personal adviser on all things, I would suggest trying to figure out if a gun in the house is something YOU WANT!

I had to wake up with you (especially after wrecking that vette) I would kill ya!

Seriously give me ring and I will fill ya in on all the dirty little secrets, and what class is going to take and WHO is the instructor? If it is an NRA course, good start but the course has nothing to do with actually waking up and pulling the trigger on an invader!

First, let her go to the range, try a few rentals there, and let her see what she is comfortable handling, and go from there.
