Guys a member of the AR15.com site. Its a complete railroad by the BATF. They actually went out of their way to get it to misfire. I find it ironic that they wont let the defenses gun expert examine it.

Exactly what Ken said the guy he loaned it too, probably was not letting the gun cool and had a round cook off. it happens in closed bolt firing weapons.

this is a complete railroad, if a fund starts up to help with this guys legal bills, I would like to donate.

It was a big problem with Olympic Arms Ar's of that era from what I read on the AR site. They said teh cyclic rate of a malfunctioning semi-auto woul dbe 1600rpm or so. Waaay too fast for the rifle to safely handle.

Hahaha first thing I thought of when they said the manu's name. I was like Ohhhhhh that explains it. I was alwasy leary of the olympics. Rock river FTW. but it can happen with any weapon that rests in the closed bolt position. one of the reasons many of the new full auto military weapons are resting in the open bolt position.

What caused it to auto fire? Did it kick and he bump fired it a few rounds in a row? Insane that the govt is making a huge target out of him, seems they are trying to prove a point, but WHAT POINT?

Have you guys seen the auto triggers you can buy for like 30-40 bucks that basically will make your gun fire as fast as a full auto with a little practice? I guess technically they are legal as it is merely making it easier to bump fire...

Huge fines and possible jailtime for what they are charging him with... I have seen where you could just go and buy HK trigger groups etc, since it is not technically a reciever (the controlled part of the gun) - but the charge if your caught with one? 20 years and a 100k fine... and you obviously will never be allowed to own a handgun again

I guess I could understand it if they had gotten a look at the gun and saw it was modified to go FA... Sounds like they just went in guns blazing to go get it.. and then they were committed to get this guy.. Whether the gun was illegally modified or not

Better he go to jail for 20 years than they have to admit that they made a mistake.. Right?

Next if your brakes fail it'll be your fault too... After all that means you intentionally crashed into something.

Are you allowed to lend your weapon to another person, even if you are not there? Just wondering, there has to be some reason they are going after this guy...

You can loan it to whomever you want as long as they arent banned from possession of one (ie felon, someone with a DV or mental issues).

NFA weapons are usually another story. Pretty sure teh owner has to be there.

This kind of shit happens all the time, and not just with guns. The Imperial Federal Gov't has made sure that it has the tools to put nearly anyone away at any time. You must rely on the good faith of bureaucrats.

The only part I can controbute is the portion of the story I heard that he was not a "good" soldier and actulay being watched for soemthing else. Was this Uncle Sam's way of taking care of it... crazier stuff has happened.
