Nope, but i have shot there. not sure if they have moved yet though. it used to be a very cool wooded site, and they are moving to a piece of boring farmland last I heard.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

I visited them this time last year and yes they are moving to Waterman soon. I wish they would not as Tony said it is a beautifully wooded piece of land they have there. It's also close to home.

I believe the annual dues were in the $400 range with a one-time initiation of $800. This is above and beyond your volunteer hours.

Im looking into St. Charles as an alternative. Unfortunatley they only allow rimfire rifles.

BTW, these two clubs are open to the public. You dont have to be a member to shoot there. The incremental cost is minimal.

How much is it to shoot at either Aurora or St. Chas for a non member?

Where is Ody? Are you saying that you can shoot at any time if you're a member?

For a scored 25 round of trap expect to pay $3-5 more as a non-member. Its a modest price increase.

What membership really gets you is off hour access.

My dad has been a member there for well over tweo decades. They are getting a little nuts on the cost of membership these days. They went over budget when they bought the property in Waterman and they are overmortgaged on the current property. It is a nice piece of land but the neighbors are starting to complain about noise and stray shots on the range. Along with the trap range they also have a 25, 75, and 100yd range. They put baffels up that start at about the 6+ foot mark and they are about 3ft tall and people still manage to lay prone and fire rounds into them and over them. I haven't shot trap there in a long time. I used to work the Friday night shoots when i was still in highschool. They also have skeet shoots now with a bunch of different stations. Thats is fun!
As far as the new location in Waterman it will be a while before they are even open. They are still in the process of earthmoving and setting the berms up. They will have some insane distance on the rifle/pistol range. I guess there will also be some lakes and a small campground. But like I said they are already tight on the budget and it's not looking like it will get better anytime soon. In fact I'm looking at the newsletter now and the exact words are "We owe somewhere around 8.5 million. We have roughly seven years left in sugar grove." They have less than 90 days to develope a plan and show good faith to the creditors.

Hmmm...that's interesting about the 7 year comment. When I was there I was talking to some older lady that was a life member. SHe seemed to know everyone and said she was a big target pistol shooter. Her story, which obviously has changed, was the village of Sugar Grove was forcing them out by annexing the land. They had an agreement to be gone in a couple years but they were planning to be gone asap.

I may have to pop back in.
