Buffalo Rock 10-5

Since it's my b-day on 10-3 I am going to head out to B-rock and get my free day of shooting on Sunday 10-5.

I'll be mostly on the plinking range and maybe on the rifle range for a little bit to sight in the eotech on the sig.

Anyone else in?

CORRECTION, IT'LL BE SUNDAY 10-5

RANGE REPORT:

Between my brother in law and I we had well over $500 in ammo. Its amazing how little ammo that is these days. Back in the day if I bought $500 in ammo I'd need a friggin fork lift to transport it. Not so much these days...

HK45: COULD NOT HIT SHIT. Its all me. I need to spend some time at Megasports with this thing. I was very disappointed in myself. This is the first time I've ever had this much trouble with a pistol and is a pretty good confidence bruiser. My problem is muscling the trigger too much. I've spent a lot of time on the MP5/40 lately and its trigger is a hairy beast. The 45 is a lot more refined and I am trying too hard. Lets just say this isn't my "go to" gun for now... Good news is 400 rounds (230 g Am Eagle and 230 g WWB) with no failures. Compared to my brother in laws baby eagle in .40 the HK has dramatically less recoil. Once I get a feel for it I'll be able to stay on target much better. The whole recoil reduction thing really works well.

Mossberg 930 SPX: This is a totally awesome machine. My shoulder is aching but I had a lot of fun. Shot 35 3" fed vital shocks (mega ouch) and about 125 2 3/4" Federal target loads. It was sheer agony by the end of the day but it was such a trip emptying the magazine I couldn't resist. The 2 3/4" loads would not cycle at first. It took a while and I think it broke in enough where it could take to smaller loads. For home this will eat the five 3" Vital shocks and two bean bags up front. Here is an artsy-fartsy shot my B-I-L took:

Sig 556 SWAT with EOTECH: Eeeeeh not much too say. Typical .223. Eotech is awesome. I can easily see why professionals choose this style sight. Shot about 250 rounds of various ammo. Ate everything I fed it and was reasonably accurate considering the Eotech has only been bored sighted. For me .223 has lost its luster a bit. Not quite sure how to explain it... lol I'd much rather replace this with a POF in 308, FN SCAR Heavy, or wait till Sig comes out with the 556 in 308/7.62.

Vector/HK MP5/40: Was the most fun of the bunch until big brother showed up (see below). At 25 plus feet this will group, very rapid fire all 30 rounds, at 6". If you slow down you can really do some nice shooting. Double taps are very tight.

me with the 40:

BIG BROTHER Vector/HK HK51 Pistol: This is an MP5 style weapon (same flat as HK91 just smaller with nearly same internals) and fires .308 out a 9" barrel. Very limited numbers were built by HK. Vollmer actually built 300 into belt feeds as an SBR (light bulb should be on in head ). Lets just say when you do a mag dump with this everyone at the range will stop shooting til you get done (notice innocent bystanders in background of pics). It was a wild beast. Easily the most fun. Fairly accurate if you wanted to hold it to your face and actually aim at something. Mostly this was just a hip shooter and you walk it to your target.

Now I am going back to my basement to continue cleaning...

MAn, you got some fun looking toys!

+1 on the EOTech. It's a pretty damn cool piece of gear.
