Maxon's Springfield Armory Day

Maxon's Springfield Armory Day

Saturday, Oct 25
9AM - 5PM

Come on out to Maxon's Shooter Supply in Des Plaines, for their Springfield Armory Day. The way it works is that we will have reps there, showcasing the whole line of Springfield Armory firearms. There will be a special rental setup, where you pay a base cover charge, then are able to rent and try out any of the guns that Springfield brings out. You must use our ammunition, which is sold in small quantities (5-10 round baggies). This way, you can try out their 1911's, XD line, etc.

This is a fabulous opportunity to come on out, and try a variety of Springfield firearms.

I will be working security detail for this show, so come on out and say hello!

1226 Rand Road
Des Plaines, IL 60016
847-298-4867

UPDATE: I just called and asked about the cost structure. It seems things have changed from the way they've done things at past Manufacturer Shoots. There will be NO COVER CHARGE. All you have to pay for is ammunition, which will be sold in small baggies of a few rounds each, allowing you to sample a variety of firearms in different calibers, without having to purchase full 50 round boxes.

Can we bring in our own pistols so we can shoot them side by side and can we use our own ammo for our pistols?

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

Heh, a combination of both. During these range events, you're not allowed to bring in your own firearms. I'm also responsible for loss-prevention. And in a worse-case scenario, I'm armed to deal with that too.

It sure beats parking duties.

And for a range pass (10 visits free), and a hell of an awesome catered Polish food dinner, it's worth 8 hours of my time, to hang out with my gun-nut pals.

If any 1911 snobs go, can you post a review on the TRP/Operator models?

I'm thinking I'm going to sell the G21 and maybe the USP9 and get a higher end 1911. (Well, higher than my Kimber. The Wilson Combat and Les Baer models I really want are a little tooo high end)

actually, your posts are what got me thinking of a Springer instead of a Baer/Wilson

I might just take you up on that. I'll have to get my FOID renewed since it expired awhile back. Its not necessary for anything here in IN.

Tall, thin brown-haired dude? I remember him. I honestly don't know. I actually stopped going to Maxon's for about 2 years, and only started going back recently. I do remember seeing him at the last Manufacturer's Shoot back in 2006.

anyone going to this...

im interested but have next to no pistol experience so someone thats a bit more familiar than myself that could help me out would be cool

I do know firearm handling rules like keeping the finger away fromt eh trigger until ready to shoot, that its always loaded even when its not and that you imagine a death ray coming outta the barrel at all times

If you've been talking to Dan, how's he been? Pester him to swing by on Saturday... would be cool to say hi to him. I used to also shoot the Monday night IPSC shoots with him.

And what accident are you referring to? Barry's motorcycle accident? And that little Kimber is a BEAUTIFUL piece, I must say! All of my toys are "functional" and I don't have any that are really show pieces, but someday...

If you used to go to Maxon's yourself, I'm starting to wonder if I know you. Prior to my recent absence, I'd been a regular there for about 10 years. I know I had actually met Biggy there, several years ago.

Yep, Barry & Claudia are good people. Though Maxon's is a dirty range, I still shoot there and give them my business because I'd rather support them directly. They've treated me very well over the years. Hell, Claudia's Basic NRA class was my very first firearms training class I took many moons ago.

No, Biggy as in CLSB's Biggy.

Thanks to those who came out. And to those who didn't, you really missed out. Things were CROWDED today, and Maxon's moved a LOT of hardware.

MikeD - That EMP was the most popular gun of the event actually. It very rarely stayed available on the table, for longer than 3-5 minutes. I know we wound up selling the 2 we had in stock, plus a few more were ordered!!!
