j/k, only kind of.

That info is not to be shared with the general populus. The records are truely only to be kept long enough for the background check to be completed. Then they are supposed to be destroyed.

Its been a while, but I know, this is how things where supposed to operate a few years back.

Gotcha, so I cannot obtain this info to possibly point police in the direction of illegal firearms?

What exactly constitutes illegal in your mind?

If that is the case contact ATF or local police.

I have some neighbors that are pices of shit. I know that one of them has previously been to jail. I'd like to tip police off but only if I can see that they are not registered. I don't want to call the cops on something bogus because it's hard enough to get them out here. I've called them numerous times while they are smoking reefer on the curb on the street and they never show up. I can care less if these pricks fuck themselves up, but we have alot of kids on the block. I don't want one of them, especially my own, to be one of those stray bullet cases.

well i see you live in chicago. most guns are illegal inside the city limits, unless registered, and the city does not accept registrations. that is the architecture of their backhanded gun ban. Although i believe your gpoing to need more proof to get the cops to look into it.

Your only choice is to call the police station, and speak to an officer. Explain the situation, and ask what can be done. Express your concerns rationally.

Whatever you do, try your best to keep your name out of it. Don't give the slim a reason to come after you, or your family.

Goodluck.

Oh I'm not afraid of these pricks, I'd put the bullet in them myself. But that would be a waste of a bullet. Sometimes it seems like the cops don't give a crap about anything other than receiving their paycheck. Hell, they are great for giving zone parking tickets! But anyway, thanks for the input guys.

Not a chance. Had the Chicago PD call me last year on a CZ75 that I had purchased a few years prior to see if I'd show them that I still had it - wanted to take mine off the LIST of possible weapons used in the murder of a CPD cop. This info is not deleted. At least not in this state.

Um, if you live in Chicago, that thing you'd use to "put a bullet in them" is probably "an illegal firearm"
