FFL transfer?

Ok so i want to buy a gun from a friend of mine, but he's in cali so we'll have to go through an FFL. I asked JR shooting sports what they charge and they said $95! There has got to be someplace cheaper...

I use Elgin Transfer for the transfer. Only $20 and the 5th one is free

If you are like me and are impatient don't use Gander. I had several issues with them:

They don't start the 24 hr or 72 hr waiting period until they receive the gun. ATF defines the waiting period as when the cash changes hand is when the waiting period starts. Gander takes it upon themselves to further impose a longer waiting period. Corporate Policy as I was told.

If you are not transferring a "mainstream" type gun (hunting shotgun/rifle) be prepared to wait as they tend to fumble around trying to figure out what to do. When I picked up one of mine there from an FFL transfer it took me 90 minutes of waiting just to complete the paperwork.

And, AND I had to watch the gun smith in back play Rambo with my Mp5. He's running around the shop in back pretending like he's shooting. Not cool. It was really, really painful but like I said I am an impatient person to begin with.

The last transfer I did I bought the bullet (pun intended) and paid out my ass at Mega Sports (was $108) but they had me in an out, they knew WTF they were doing, and were professional about it the entire time.

Just my .02

JR Shooting Sports sucks ass. They are two minutes from my house and I'd rather hitchhike a ride to MegaSports from a blind pervert than give them any of my $$$$.

gunbroker.com is like an ebay for guns

I've never used them but they do have a list of FFL holders in your area by zipcode...some by me were only charging $20

Just FYI, I stopped in Gander last night for shits and giggles to see if they still transfer, etc, etc. They raised their price to $75 and your waiting period starts from the time they receive the gun (not when the paperwork is filled as is customary).

What type of MP5? HK94, sp89, or a clone? I've always wanted one, but I don't want a clone, and the prices for the real ones are crazy!

Vector clone. I like HK stuff but it will be a cold day in hell before I drop $4k to $6k on something that I can't SBR or own legally in this state. All my vector stuff is in the pistol form so when I move SBR'ing is easy.
